Please close for repair

We selected this hotel to attend because we were attending a marriage retreat. This Amerisuites Hotel is in desperate need of repair. The lobby looks great. But I should not have judged the hotel just from the looks of the lobby. I arrived around 12 Noon Thursday morning and asked if my husbnd & I could check in early but wwere told no room was ready. We returned at 2PM but did not have time to really inspect the room because we had a conference to attend. When we returned and inspected the room, we noticed the mattress was lumpy. The furniture was scratched, shabby and worn. The support bar in the shower was not attached to the wall; it was hung in place but missing screws. I ventured to the ice machine and found the wall and doorway and the ice machine damaged. The wallpaper looked terrible and the railing had been tacked on the wall with smal nails. The next morning we requested another room. When I entered this room, the window was open, the bed was unmade, the counters and furniture were dusty and all the chairs were up on the desk and couch. And we also had no pillows on the bed. I alerted the housekeeper who immediately came in to clean the room. She apologized and state the room had been shampooed a few days before. We returned that afternoon and found out the bedspread had a horrible odor. The only good things about this hotel was the friendly and help night-duty front desk staff and the breakfast bar. This hotel should close until it has been completely renovated.
