The Howard Johnson South Bend is conveniently located 1/2 mile south of I-80/90 on US 33/31. We are only 1/2 mile north of Notre Dame & St. Mary?s Universities and the convention center is only 3 miles away. We offer 2 floors, free wireless highspeed internet access in all rooms and property, an indoor pool and fitness center, and complimentary continental breakfast to each guest 6am - 9am.

Upon entering the room I was very disappointed. There were crumbs on the table and on the floor. The beds do not come with a fitted bed sheet and when I inquired to the front desk they had no idea why this was. There was mold in the bathroom and on the vent to the heating. Absolutely the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at. Stay and don't worry, it is clean and food is not far away.I brought my grandaughter to Indiana to see snow. It was forcast when I planned my trip. All we had was this long weekend. I shared with the staff why we were there and we kidded about it. We watched the forecast and finally snow was predicted. It began snowing the day before we were scheduled to leave. At midnight, we played in the snow in the big lights of the parking lot. There was a tiny hill going from the parking lot down toward our room. The next morning, we had about three inches of snow and my grandaughter was able to slide down it. She slid on ice that formed near a lightpole and made a couple of snowangels in the grass. We even made a tiny snowman just before we left. The room wasn't luxiourious, but it was great for the money and we had a wonderful time there. The staff was very friendly and there were a number of good restaurants close by. We made a special memory at the Howard Johnsons in South Bend, Indiana. By the way, we flew in from Miami, Florida and didn't know anyone in South Bend. Score 2 out of 5 great location Anonymous, 2007-02-18 The Howard Johnsons in South Bend, Ind. was a disappointment. The first room that we were assigned had not been cleaned and a half bar of soap was in the shower. The location was in the back of hotel and difficult to get to. (The hotel wasn't even half full.) We immediately went to the front desk and they gave us a better room off the lobby but the noise on Saturday night woke me up. The Sunday morning manager said he heard it was a group of locals. I would not stay or recommend this hotel in the future.
