Location is great for visiting the Indiana Dunes Score 5 out of 5 Nice Anonymous, 2006-09-24 Good price, much more classic and romantic than a standard hotel. Score 5 out of 5 Very comfortable accomodations Anonymous, 2006-09-19 Indiana Dunes State Park and the National Lakeshore are both very close. Valparaiso University is about 12 miles from the motel. Great shopping in Michigan City which is a short drive. We only stayed one night. The room was very spacious and very comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning. Dining at the motel would have been very welcome in the evening if at all possible. Very enjoyable stay. View was great with all the woods behind. It has beautiful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms are large by comparison, but not overly so. You have many extras that are not found in chain hotels. i.e. refrigerator and microwave. Score 5 out of 5 Very comfortable and friendly staff Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-08-18 There was a lovely little Italian restaurant in nearby Chesterton that had patio dining and the food was as good as any Chicago restaurant. The Springhouse Inn was well maintained, clean rooms, nice sauna, whirlpool and hot tub. Rooms were spacious with all the necessary amenities and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again because I think it is a good value. The free breakfast was also very good. I think the hotel could use brighter lighting since all the lighting at the inn was very subdued probably for a romantic, calming effect. There were 2 very good restaurants close by in Chesterton. About 20 minutes to the Blue Chip Casino and about 20 minutes from the amazing Indiana Dunes National Seashore. Score 5 out of 5 quiet, romantic getaway roger, 2006-05-14 Michigan City casino riverboat is only minutes away. Several antique shops in the surrounding area. Outlet shopping in Michigan City. Indiana Dunes State Park is a short drive away. The Springhouse Inn in Porter, IN was comfortable, quiet and inviting. The room was large with a small balconey overlooking the gardens. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet provided. We have traveled all over the country and stayed in a wide variety of facilities but this was the quietest place we have ever stayed. There was virtually no highway noise! Score 5 out of 5 peace and quiet Anonymous, 2006-04-30 After a 5 hour drive, we arrived at noon - only to be told that the room would NOT be ready until 3:00. There was no "sense of urgency" on the part of the inn employees to even attempt an earlier check-in. The room was prepaid. We waited. Nice lobby areas and lounge areas. A large (and full) trash bag from a Friday evening gathering in the 3rd floor lounge was still leaning against the wall on Sunday morning. Score 5 out of 5 Cozy Anonymous, Chicago, IL, 2005-06-25 We both enjoyed Spring House Inn. It was secluded, private and quiet. Everything was very clean-- the pool area and sitting areas in and out. The breakfast wwas Great!! |
