Housed in an 1862 Victorian mansion, this three-story museum focuses on Victorian decorative arts such as fine silver, tapestries, and Belter & Meeks furniture.
Indianapolis Museum of Art
This world-class museum has notable paintings by El Greco, Rubens, American Impressionists, and European neo-Impressionists -- and there's no admission charge to the permanent collection. At press time the museum was undergoing an extensive, multimillion-dollar expansion that may affect opening times, and some galleries and facilities may be closed during construction. Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Built in 1909, this is one of the most celebrated auto raceways in the world. Each May, more than 400,000 spectators throng to the 2.5-mile oval course to watch the Indianapolis 500, the largest single-day sporting event in the world, boasting the largest purse in motor racing. The Speedway also hosts the United States Grand Prix in June and the NASCAR Brickyard 400 in August.The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum (open daily 9am-5pm; $3 adults, $1 children 6-15) is within the track's oval. The 433-acre speedway also features a PGA course (4 holes inside the track and 14 outside).
