Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement
Located 30 miles northeast of downtown, this restored 19th-century village faithfully reproduces pioneer life between 1820 and 1840 with the help of 36 carefully restored buildings, crafts demonstrations, and reenactments of events on the frontier. In summer, you can take a picnic here and listen to a concert under the stars as part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's "Symphony on the Prairie" series.
Indianapolis Museum of Art
This world-class museum has notable paintings by El Greco, Rubens, American Impressionists, and European neo-Impressionists -- and there's no admission charge to the permanent collection. Other strengths include African art, Japanese Edo-period paintings, American furniture, textiles, costumes, and a superb collection of Turner works on paper. The sculpture garden includes Robert Indiana's famed LOVE. In summer, the museum hosts the Summer Nights concert and film series. Bring a picnic, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy open-air performances or classic films. Also on the grounds is the Oldfields-Lilly House, a historic 22-room mansion open to the public (admission $5 adults, $4 students and seniors). At press time the museum was undergoing an extensive, multimillion-dollar expansion that may affect opening times, and some galleries and facilities may be closed during construction. Call ahead for more information.

The zoo's immense Dolphin Pavilion was being renovated at press time and is scheduled to reopen in summer 2005; for an aquatic fix, check out the new seahorse exhibit. Waste of Money

Kyle

We stayed in this hotel on New Year's Eve 2006. This hotel was a wreck. They are in the middle of repainting etc, and that, of course, didn't stop them from closing any of the rooms. There was a crack in the ceiling (2) that allowed noise from the room above to come through, there was an outlet cover missing exposing wiring, no cove base on the hallway wall, the furniture was substandard and the alarm clock was worthless. I even went so far as to e-mail the hotel manager and NEVER heard a reply back. I will never stay at this hotel again, and probably none of the Choice hotels from now on. I am starting to find (as I did again this past weekend) that they are not managed well and the franchisee quality control has greatly fallen.

Not very clean and not very welcoming

Anonymous

The staff seemed preoccupied and unfriendly. They were not getting things done in a timely manner. The rooms were not very clean - bathroom wasn't cleaned well. Bed sheets were too small and came off immediately upon getting into bed and had to fussed with all night.

Very Family Oriented

Bobbie, Indianapolis, IN

My son's basketball team stayed at the hotel for two nights. We travel all over the state and this is one of our top two favorite hotels in Indiana. We travel with ten players, families, grandparents and friends. We often feed the team in the hotel's breakfast area. The hotel staff did a tremendous job of making sure we were taken care of. We had a minor maintenance issue that was resolved within ten minutes so our dinner was not delayed. The check-in and out processes were very easy without delay. All of the families agreed this is one of the cleanest facilities we have frequented. The only suggestion I would make is to have more of a variety for breakfast. We will definitely stay here again!

Texas Roadhouse, Ruby Tuesday's nearby.

Hotel was clean, well-kept, with plenty of room. No dining, but several restaurants within walking distance. Continental breakfast was fine; cost very competitive. Convenient location near I-465.

My favorite

Resturants, DOWNTOWN, malls, just a lot of activity

This is most likely where I'll stay when I travel to Indianapolis, which is about once every two months. It's close to everything, easy access, and family-friendly.

Great Value for the money

Anonymous, Atlanta, GA, 2006-11-26

I love White Castles, and that did it for me....right across the street. But you can pretty much get anything on that strip.

I would recomend this Hotel to anyone. I want to stay in this hotel every time I go. The room was clean, the air worked. They have Microwaves and Friges in the Room....Wow. Nice powerful shower. For the price this is a great stay, the staff was very nice and helpful. I have a family of 5...they even provided cribbs for the our infant. I really feel they went over and above considering the price.
