Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Weekend getaway HK The Canterbury was a great choice for a weekend get away. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and well appointed, with only a couple of issues. The shower did not have a shower curtain with a radius that many hotels are now using to keep the curtain from clinging to you during your shower. The tub did not drain properly and I stood in ankle deep water for most of my shower. The Canterbury is well located with restaurants, shopping, and entertainment nearby. Score 5 out of 5 elegant hotel Joan Great hotel for downtown Indy--attached to Circle Center Mall, VERY close to great restaurants ie: Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, St. Elmo's Steakhouse, Palomino, etc. Plenty of nightlife in the area. Hotel is lovely, room was very nice, a boutique hotel with afternoon tea, nice bar and restaurant, turn down service, robes, etc. Would definitely stay again. Not a good hotel for children, but a great adult getaway. Score 5 out of 5 Great business amenitites Anonymous, Springfield, IL There are plenty of nice restaurants to choose from and the hotel staff was wonderful at helping me choose which one.The Canterbury Inn was a great alternative to the typical hotel in the area. The location was where I needed yet it was a nice escape at the end of a day of business meetings. I would recommend The Canterbury Inn and stay again and again. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent Value and Location Kimberly, Kansas City, MO, 2006-12-31 There are excellent restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance of the hotel. My husband and I were extremely pleased with our visit to the Canterbury Hotel, Indianapolis. The room was very comfortable (particularly the king size bed and luxurious pillows), we enjoyed room service and had breakfast in the hotel dining room twice. We have already recommended the Canterbury to friends and family and will visit the hotel again on our next trip to Indianapolis. Score 2 out of 5 Okay unless you want room service Anonymous, Indianapolis, IN, 2006-11-27 The hotel is connected to Circle Centre Mall.We recently stayed at the Canterbury following a Sunday night football game. When we checked in, the front desk staff listed amenities including 24-hour room service. As it turned out, we had a very poor restaurant experience before the game and were very excited about being able to order room service after. However, when we returned the hotel and tried to place our order, we were told the cooks had gone home and service was not available. We asked to speak to a manager and were told no one was available, but given the name of a woman we could speak to in the morning. The next morning, we found the woman and she claimed she was not in charge of room service and would have the appropriate person call us. We never received a phone call. In my opinion, you should not offer an amenity that you do not truly have - and if you do, the staff should make some attempts to make up for the shortfall once it's recognized. The rooms were pretty small, but fine. The hotel overall is older, but clean. Had we not been disappointed with our room service experience (or lack thereof), then I may have stayed again. But given the lack of customer service in addressing the situation, we will not return. Score 5 out of 5 Romantic with early 19th Century Charm Anonymous, Dayton, OH, 2006-10-19 Walking distance to everything in downtown Indy. The Canterbury has a FANTASTIC location and a wonderful restaurant. The service was great and our overall stay was just what we imagined. Score 5 out of 5 very convient location and comfortable rooms Anonymous, Denver, CO, 2006-10-06 St elmo's is right next door to the hotel which is a national recognized steak house. The hotel offered a very comfortable room. the canterberry has an old time charm to it with mordern facilities. Coviently locate in the downtown area. The staff was very helpful. Score 5 out of 5 Historic Grand Hotel Patricia, Denver, CO, 2006-06-13 The Circle Mall is connected to the Hotel by a skyway and makes shopping easy even in inclement weather. The Convention Center can also be accessed by skyways and is within a short walk from the HotelThis is a grand hotel in the sense of lots of history and an upscale demeanor. The chandelir in the piano room is exquisite. The staff was exceptionally courteous. The restaurant is on the expensive side, but the meals were quite good. There is plenty of cherry wood, linen table cloths, silver place settings and fine china in the dining room. Since this hotel is located in the heart of Downtown Indianapolis, most local restaurants were a bit expensive. St. Elmo's restaurant right next door had great offerings for a night on the town. I had a filet mignon so tender I could almost cut it with a fork. There is plenty of choice for food and shopping within walking distance. Score 5 out of 5 Great location Rodger, 2006-04-20 The hotel is located close to everything downtown. Easy to find and a great place to stay. Though I do believe the cost to be a little high. It is still worth the cost for the location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was adequate for the nights stay. All in all a good place to stay in downtown Indianapolis. Score 5 out of 5 Location, location Robert, Indianapolis, IN, 2006-03-12 The hotel is connected to the Circle Center Mall from the second floor of the hotel. Don't forget your room key to re-enter the hotel! The Canterbury Hotel is very conveniently located in downtown Indianapolis. We were within walking distance of everything we wanted to do on this trip. The hotel itself is old but very well maintained. The rooms are small but beautifully furnished; all rooms have only one bed. The hotel staff prides itself on service and on this occasion they were up to standard. |
