During your Chicago vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Gray Line
Part of a company that offers bus tours worldwide, Gray Line Chicago offers professional tours in well-appointed buses. Most tours run 3 to 4 hours (including lunch) and feature highlights of downtown or various neighborhoods; some tours also include a cruise on Lake Michigan or a visit to the Sears Tower Skydeck. You'll also find some more intellectual offerings, including Chicago and the Civil War and Literary Chicago.
Chicago Architecture Center
Chicago's architecture is one of the city's main claims to fame, and a quick swing through this center will help you understand why. Run by the well-regarded Chicago Architecture Foundation, it's conveniently located across the street from the Art Institute. Still trying to figure out the difference between Prairie School and postmodern? Stop in here for a quick lesson. Exhibits include a scale model of downtown Chicago, profiles of the people and buildings that shaped the city's look, and a searchable database with pictures and information on many of Chicago's best-known skyscrapers. "Architecture ambassadors" are on hand to provide information on tours run by the foundation. Two galleries feature changing exhibits about ongoing Chicago design projects -- so you can see firsthand how local architecture continues to evolve. There's also an excellent gift shop filled with architecture-focused books, decorative accessories, and gifts. Allow a half-hour, more if you want to browse in the store.
Robie House
One of Frank Lloyd Wright's finest works, the Robie House is considered among the masterpieces of 20th-century American architecture. The open layout, linear geometry of form, and craftsmanship are typical of Wright's Prairie School design. Completed in 1909 for inventor Frederick Robie, a bicycle and motorcycle manufacturer, the home is also notable for its exquisite leaded- and stained-glass doors and windows. It's also among the last of his Prairie School-style homes: During its construction, Wright abandoned both his family and his Oak Park practice to follow other pursuits, most prominently the realization of his Taliesin home and studio in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Docents from Oak Park's Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation lead tours here, even though the house is undergoing a massive, 10-year restoration (the house will be open throughout the process, but your photos may include plenty of scaffolding). A Wright specialty bookshop is located in the building's former three-car garage -- which was highly unusual for the time in which it was built. Allow 1 hour per tour, more time if you want to browse the gift shop.

A huge variety of things to do

Jessica, 2007-03-04

There is shopping, entertainment, dining and nightlife all with in walking distance and located in the hotel.

I have stayed down by Michigan Ave many times and i really liked the Hyatt because it is just off the hustle and bustle but still close enough to walk to everything. Very easy to valet the car, very friendly staff. The hotel Big bar had a wonderful view and the late night dance club was a lot of fun. I would defiantly stay again and recommend this to my friends.

very dissapinted

Pizzeria UNO best pizza ever, specially three cheese with pesto!!!

The first room we got was horrible. Very small, with very small windows, facing ugly areas. They offer an Upgraded paying more of course. After several conversations, they gave us one of their best rooms . With very nice view but without any sense. The bed was facing walls only, so in order to enjoy the view you have to stand by the window! The decoration was nice and the restroom were nice too. But we were never looking foward to be in the hotel. :(

Great place, but dont go if you're on a budget!

Krista, Houston, TX, 2007-02-21

The Magnificent Mile is just a few blocks away. If you're a shopper you've gotta go there!!

The Chicago Hyatt Regency was really a nice place to stay. The room's have recently been redone and look incredible. The only downside to this hotel is the money you have to spend while there. Parking was $40 a night even if you are a hotel guest. They charge you for everything you can think of there. Internet fees were outrageous. Don't even think about having to use the business center, they charge for that too. Nothing is free here! If you're on a tight budget this is not the place to stay...however it is really nice. The only other complaint I had was that the water pressure wasn't good at all. Other than the money and that its a neat place.

Convenient location and wealth of dining options

Matthew, Cleveland, OH, 2007-02-20

The Hyatt Regency had a spacious room with a great view of the city and the Chicago River. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from, right inside the Hyatt. I was in walking distance from just about all of my business meetings throughout town.

Very Clean & Big

The Hyatt Regency Chicago's room was really big for a downtown hotel and very clean. The location was excellent, just a short walk from Millennium Park and Michigan Ave shops.

Elegance and Comfort

Anonymous, 2007-02-19

The hotel is on the river in the Loop, so there are numerous restaurants and tourist attractions close by.

The Hyatt Regency Chicago was a wonderful home-away-from-home. The room was nicely decorated and everything was very clean. The room temperature and water pressure in the shower were maintained at comfortable levels and we found the king-sized bed and the pillows to be just perfect. We were totally comfortable sleeping and relaxing in bed for hours on end. The most delightful feature for us, though, was the excellent room service. The menu offered numerous choices, thoughtfully conceived, at what seemed like good prices. The food always arrived appropriately hot (or cold), beautifully presented, and delicious. Actually, we had planned to do sightseeing before and after the event we came for, but we were so happy with our hotel, we just stayed in the room and got some much needed R and R. The staff was congenial and most accommodating despite the fact that this was a hugely busy hotel. We will definitely stay at Hyatts in the future.

Great location

Anonymous, Detroit, MI, 2007-02-18

We were a short walk to the Magnificent Mile.

The Hyatt Regency provided us with a great base from which to see Chicago. We were one block from the Michigan Avenue bridge and 4 blocks from an El station. A short walk took us to Millenium Park and the Art Museum. Based on location alone, this hotel is perfect. The breakfast buffet both days was delicious. My son used the fitness center and found it adequate. We used a computer in the Business Center at $7/15 minutes. The express check-in and check-out was quick and easy. My only complaint is about the housekeeping. Our beds were only 3/4 made up (pillows were left on the floor and one bed's spread was thrown on the other bed), we were left no wash cloths in the bathroom, and I left a note requesting regular coffee only for our coffeemaker; they left only decaf!
