It was inexpensive and great food. Water Tower is one block away.We went to this hotel for a getaway weekend. We were very happy with the hotel. Unbelievably comfortable beds. When we would get back to our room at night the room was made up again and beds turned down. Staff was very helpful with everything. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Close to Water Tower shopping Score 4 out of 5 One block walk to Michigan Avenue Anonymous, 2007-02-15 One block walk does it all. Shopping, dining, sightseeingThe Sofitel lobby was very clean, calming and very attractive. The young man that took us to our room was very friendly and helpful. He told us about some of the closer restaurants right downtown, which was where we wanted to go, after suggesting their own restaurant in the lobby. By the time we got to our room, we knew what restaurant we wanted to go to and he told us which direction to head out in. When we came back, the bar had a happy, comfortable crowd in it. Security was good and no unruly behaviors were displayed. The room was rather standard but clean and nicely decorated. The king sized bed was delightful. We looked out our window into a residential building and had somewhat of a southwestern horizon view in the morning. The baggage guys jumped right in to help. You didn't even have to ask for help. Beautiful decor set the tone for a relaxing and luxurious stay. My room was perfect; elegant but not pretentious. The room held a huge cozy bed with large windows to let the daylight in. There was a large closet as well as a writing desk. The large bathroom held an inviting bath with separate shower. Score 5 out of 5 Beautiful picture window Sharon, Kansas City, MO, 2006-09-30 We walked to dinner at NoMI. Elegant, with view and excellent food. The Sofitel was very nice. Our room had a floor to ceiling picture window. (We were on the 15th floor.) Although it faced other downtown Chicago buildings, it gave you a sense of the energy of the city. It was fun to watch the hustle and bustle. The bathroom was very large with separate tub and shower and lovely vanity. We stopped for drinks in the bar area which was very cozy. Yummny chocolate martinis and friendly server.
