The hotel was old so the lobby and hallways had an odd odor. I didn't notice anything in the room though. The carpet was stained in the room, but otherwise the room was clean. The hotel staff was kind enough to give me a room on the quiet end of the building. Breakfast was a big disappointment with only pre-packaged danishes and little boxes of cereal. I'd stay there again since it is inexpense and close to the interstate, but next time I'll bring my own breakfast. Score 5 out of 5 great accommodations for the price Judee, 2006-07-20 Abraham Lincoln home and museum etc.Very comfortable us. We appreciated the continental breakfast because then we could be off for the day. We we at the restaurant attached to the Travelodge when there was a power outage on Aug. 24, 2006. They were friendly and helpful. We then went next door to Travelodge where they directed us to an area of the city when restaurants were located and the power ws on. Score 3 out of 5 Kind of Seedy Janet, New York, NY, 2006-06-14 The new Lincoln Museum was a 10 minute drive away. This is a museum definitely worth seeing.I was somewhat dissatisfied with this hotel because it was more motel then hotel. I have been to Travelodge hotels in different states and they were more hotel then motel. Although this motel was clean and got the job done, it was a bit seedy. Buildings were older and in need of repair. Score 5 out of 5 A good value richard, 2006-05-28 There is a buffet resteraunt next door as wellI was visiting Springfield for a motorcycle race at the fairgrounds. The hotel was close to I-55 for easy access in and out. The Mexican resteraunt, Cinco de Mayo, has good food in large portions at reasonable prices. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. My 2 young children were delighted to stay in the Sleepy Bear room. We had not specifically requested this room. When the staff saw I was traveling alone with 2 children I appreciate that they took this into consideration. The room space was very ample and clean. Score 3 out of 5 fair hotel, good price Anonymous, Chicago, IL, 2005-11-13 downtown Springfield minutes awaylocation is good on the South end of town, Mexican restaurant within hotel was good. Rooms slightly small but clean. Not a place to impress, but a decent place to rest Score 1 out of 5 Terrible hotel Kathleen, 2005-11-06 The two doors into the main lobby open in opposite directions. Watch out for that! The Travelodge at Springfield IL was not worth the money. It was unseasonably warm and the hotel no longer offered its guests air conditioning, as they were only able to have either heating or air conditioning available throughout the hotel at any given time. The adjoining restaurant, however, had A/C. My room was hot and stuffy and I was told to open the window. My room was above the entrance to the hotel, so I was treated to lots of street noise and shouting throughout the evening. The room and the hallway smelled bad. Half the channels on the TV did not work. The bed was uncomfortable, with small, flat pillows. There was a $10 charge to turn on the telephone. There were stains on the carpeting. No elevator. The one redeeming factor about the hotel was the attached Mexican restaurant, which was very good (not owned by the hotel). |
