there is a perkins within a walk up the hill.the airport and walgreens is within a short drive as well as a hy vee.

i have stayed here on many occassions and the staff has been very helpful. Thanks for all your help Motel 6.

The Motel 6 was fine for the price, however with the changing weather they were switching between ac and heat and at the time there was no heat. The front desk clerk didn't know if the heat was on or not, but did warn me of the situation. The room was very cold at night.

There's a Perkins restaurant 50 yards behind the hotel that was up to par.

The Motel 6 was located just across the street from the Des Moines airport and was convenient after an all day flight. However, it was very sparse with none of the amenities such as shampoo in the room, hard matress, thin covers,no restaurant, etc. Much noise outside after 11pm including a very vocal argument between a man and woman using all kinds of profanity. It was inexpensive, but there are others along LaFleur drive that I will look into next time.

For the price, it was great.

Gray's Lake is very close

Motel 6 for the price, the room was good. I'm used to sleeping on a queen size bed and the room had full size beds. We were only there for 4 hours as our flight left very early. The location was what worked best for us!!

It's across the street from the airport.

The Motel 6 at the Des Moines Airport was the right price for a night's lodging. I could tell the exterior of the property had been spruced up and made cute, but the rooms were still dated and you could tell they had seen rougher days. The shower stall had been replaced with a plastic enclosure from which the shower head faced backwards toward the wall such that you stand facing outward. I had not seen a shower like that before.

My sister and I needed a hotel near the Des Moines airport due to a 6 am flight. This was the cheapest room available. I didn't go into it with high expectations. I had hoped I would get my money's worth, which only required a decent night's sleep. What we discovered when we got there is that they had no heat. They explained that due to the fact that the weather had been warm, and then changed to a colder pattern, the hotel was unable to change their system from a/c to heat. It was supposed to be in the high 40's that night, so we were concerned about not having heat. Also, all of the rooms are all entered from the outside with no inside halls. For two girls traveling together, that could have been unsafe. As I was waiting to check in, three people came down with room cards that didn't work. I just didn't have a comfortable feeling, so we stayed at a different discount hotel chain just down the road. There are several hotels right across from DSM.

Grocery store and Walgreens just down the street. Downtown was about 10-15 minutes. Again, not sure of what to expect from Des Moines, but the whole city seemed to close up by 5 and restaurants weren't open on weekends.

Hey, it was a Motel 6 near the airport.....I wasn't expecting much, just a cheap decent room. The front desk was very disorganized and less than helpful. The lady ahead of me in line was complaining, and the desk help said they'd have to talk to a manager to resolve the problem. Problem was the manager was nowhere to be found and they only had a vague idea of when he might return. The room itself had a very hard bed, a TV, and not much else. The cleaning crew was very nice, but haphazard. The bed would be made, but the towels weren't changed out, or they'd forget to empty garbage. Very scattered methods. There was a thermostat on the wall and since the room was stuffy, I wanted some air but the fan was REALLY noisy. If I opened the window, it compromised my security, because it opened right to the parking lot, and since it was by the airport, again the noise factor. Again, I guess I shouldn't have expected much for the price and location.

The supermarket next door has a restaurant that has a good, resonably-priced breakfast menu.

Motel 6 Des Moines South - Airport is a clean bare-bones motel. Price is the major selling point. There are a few restaurants and a grocery store close by. Downtown Des Moines is only an 8 -10 minute drive. If you can do without the frills this is a clean and convenient motel.

The Motel 6 was a good place to rest your head after a long day at the airports!!! Quick and friendly check in and out!!! Eaasy acess to the Des Moines airport. Perkins right behind is also a plus!!! Good place to eat!!!
