Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Great Value for Your Money Deana, 2006-12-29 There are many "strip malls" along the way to the Coralville mall. Our room at Best Western Cantebury Inn & Suites was extremely spacious. The room not only had the two queen-sized beds, we also had a large area with a desk and two, comfortable wing-back chairs. With four females staying in the room, we liked the fact that the double sink vanity was separate from the bathroom with the commode and shower. The pool was unexpectally warm for a hotel and accommodated many guests. The hotel's extended continental breakfast was a great way to start our mornings. The location was perfect for our purpose...close to shopping and the Coralville mall. It is located about 2.5 miles from the University of Iowa campus, so if you are visiting the school, and all you need is a relatively clean place to sleep, this hotel is an acceptable choice. I have been a bit spoiled by staying in some luxurious hotels at times, so my expectations for a hotel room might be higher than some. I think that for the price, this hotel is a good value. The lobby and hallway decor is a medieval theme. The first room that the desk clerk gave my 18 year-old daughter and I, had one queen-sized, canopied bed - and a crib. It was located on an exterior corner of the building with a sliding glass door on ground level. It didn't feel safe to us (nor have enough beds) so I requested another room with two beds. The desk clerk was kind and polite and easily changed our room to a second floor room. The hot breakfast is good if you get there before they run out of food. The breakfast is served on weekdays from 6am-9am and we arrived at 8:30. We weren't able to have any eggs or sausages and biscuits because the truckers ate everything. Cold cereal and coffee and waffles were still available though. We didn't eat at the Inn's restaurant, but looked in it and found it to be very dark inside. There is also a small bar there. Checkout was completely easy. Extremely friendly staff and much nicer place then the cost would have indicated. Will be sure to visit them often Score 5 out of 5 Very Friendly Myles, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-06-11 The Coralville is a great place for shopping. Their food court and restaurants aren't bad either. The hotel staff was very friendly, especially at check in and during our four day stay. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning, the food was good with a good choice. The person at the food counter was very helpful too. I thought the room was excellent. However, turning on the shower was very confusing. One had to pull down the spout to engage the shower. I believe a sign stating so would have been helpful. We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed it very much. This hotel will be our first choice the next time we visit the Iowa City - Coralville area. Score 2 out of 5 Bring your own coffee Anonymous, 2006-05-28 For those who like to shop, a large mall is nearby. While most of the staff seemed competent, housekeeping left much to be desired. One day the crew left no coffee nor cups in the room; one day they left only decaf and didn't clean the coffee pot. Hotel information wasn't adequately disseminated: I informed the staff I was staying there because a family member was having major surgery in a nearby hospital, and I didn't learn of the free hospital shuttle until checking out. Had I been informed, I could have saved over $50 in parking charges. The restaurant food was good, but there was no information offered about it being closed on Memorial Day. Score 5 out of 5 The place to stay in Iowa City DAVID, Santa Barbara, CA, 2006-05-22 University of IowaIf you're coming to Iowa City I would highly recommend the Best Western Cantebury Inn. It's officially in Coralville, but it's close enough. It's easy to get to, close to the freeway, centrally located, with spacious rooms. You can't beat the price and the staff was outstanding.
