Poipu Shores Resort on Kauai is currently planning on resurfacing the pool. During this period arrangements have been made for our guests to utilize the pool facility at nearby Makahuena at Poipu. The Makahuena is located a short stroll east of the Poipu Shores Resort. This project is scheduled to commence May 16, 2006 and is expected to be completed by May 31, 2006.

If you want A/C, check out one of the hotel properties. Also, be sure to check the days various attractions are open before you go! We found out, too late, that the Limahuli garden is closed Saturday and Monday. Sunday was Christmas, so we missed this attraction - a major disappointment.The condo we rented at Castle Poipu Shores has a stunning setting - right over rocky cliffs, with the ocean waves spraying up, sea turtles swimming into the bays beneath us, and right around the bend from Poipu Beach, an easy walk. What we did not realize until we got there, on a hot day at mid-afternoon, is that this condo has no air conditioning. Sleeping was fine, it cooled off at night, but we were there in December - what would this be like in the summer? We made sure we were out and about during the day, because we had direct afternoon sun into the master bedroom, living room etc, and it became very hot inside. The carpet was stained throughout, and the appointments were a bit shabby. The bed we slept in was very comfortable, however - and we enjoyed the space (size)of this condo. Bottom line: It has "Location, location, location!!" Score 2 out of 5 Ocean front but thats' about it Nancy, 2005-11-20 Brenekes's beach is a short walk away.We stayed one night at Castle Poipu Shores in a 2 bedroom townhouse. There is no AC so you need to keep your windows open, which is a big problem in units where the waves break just below you. Very noisy. The unit was average to less than average in its decor; some upgrades to the bathrooms had been made. This is a really old property that commands way too much money for lodging. The pool looks a whole lot bigger in the post cards. The location is good, however, close to Brenecke's beach. |
