Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Best view & best location Qi, Newark, NJ Black Rock right in front of Sheraton is the best onshore snorkeling place. There are so many fishes. And rumers are that a few sea turtles also live there. We've decided that when we go to Maui next time, we will choose no other place than the Whaler. It is located in the middle of Ka'anapali beach, right next to the upscale shopping mall, very short walk to the Black Rock, which offers the best onshore snorkeling experience, great view of the Molokai island, the ocean, the beach, other hotels, golf courses right on the balcony. It is also pretty close to the Lahaina, where we took a whale watching trip, had breakfast/lunch/dinner numerous times, went to a Luau, did lots of shopping. We love our room, which is an ocean view studio on the top floor of tower I. It's spacious, well equipped with all essentials, nicely and neatly maintained. Of course, it's not cheap, but nothing is cheap in Hawai'i anyway, and it's well worth the money we spent. Highly recommended. Score 4 out of 5 Be careful- Beds and W/D units Anonymous, 2006-11-03 The room we actually upgraded to was very nice but the bed was very old and the mattress extremely uncomfortable. It was so hard the staff tried to bring in blankets to put under our sheets to help but the bed was still very, very hard. Also we were told there was a washer and dryer but there was not in this suite and as a result the few clothes we brought thinking we would have a chance to wash and dry had to be taken to a laundry room. The grounds are tired. The underground parking area is a war zone. Even posted to watch for falling concrete. I love the locations, but will not stay there again until they do a complete renovation. Jason, Indianapolis, IN, 2006-05-14 The whalers village is right next door, provides shops, food, and entertainment. The Whaler on kaanapali Beach was great! This was our first time in Maui, hawaii. We spent our honeymoon there. upon arrival there was a fresh pineapple in the refrig. The view from the lani was excellent. The whalers Village next door provided many shops, and a food court. The beach is the best around, clean and not alot of people. We would definately come back to the whaler. The lack of dinning inn the hotel was not a problem because there were multiple choices very close. I would recommend the Whaler to others.
