Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Superb amenities Anonymous At just a block from the main drag there are endless choices of restaurants, shopping and entertainment. However, it is a tourist trap area unless you hop in your car and get away. The Aina Nalu has superb amenities in a cozy atmosphere without being pretentious. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay.We have two complaints. First is the $10/day parking fee. Parking is usually a standard at other hotels, motels and condo resorts. Also, I'm accustomed to having wireless internet available whenever I travel. If I were to find parking included at another equally satisfying condo resort, then I would rather go there. Otherwise, very comfy and clean. Score 4 out of 5 Under Construction Patricia, Burbank, CA, 2006-11-26 Front Street is two short blocks away. Lots of nice restaurants and shopping. We took the car to the local grocery. This facility is in a very nice area of town. This facility is undergoing a makeover from a hotel to a condo-so you are renting someone elses residence. The units have all just been redone to a high standard inside and are lovely with granite countertops in kitchen, etc. We rented a two bed,two bath unit and four of us stayed for one week. The problem is the living room is tiny and does NOT have enough seating for four people. There is NO dining table nor is there room for a table and chairs. We wanted a condo to save money on eating out and so we could bring less clothes(condo comes with nice washer/dryer). We were able to wash clothes which was nice but we ended up eating out a lot more than expected. THIS PLACE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION(no one warned us. It's very chopped up and the new pool is NOT yet finished although the nasty old motel pool is still available for use. I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN AFTER CONSTRUCTION IS OVER. THE LOCATION IS GREAT. BUT I WOULD DEMAND A GROUND FLOOR UNIT AS THERE IS NO ELEVATOR, AND I WOULD ONLY STAY HERE IN A ONE BEDROOM AS A COUPLE AND NOT A FAMILY VACATION. YOU CAN WALK TO FRONT STREET FOR RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING. Score 4 out of 5 Condo with good location Constance, San Jose, CA, 2006-08-09 David Paul's Lahaina Grill and I'O are two GREAT restaurants to visit. EXCELLENT food, atmoshpere, and service make them a must visit stop. The Aina Nalu was a very clean, new condo near the center of action in Lahaina, but far away enough not to be noisy. We liked the fact that we could walk into town without having to find parking, but didn't like the fact that the condo charges $8/day to park there. The condo had an efficient kitchen, a sofa bed living room with a mattress that needed help from sagging and giving a backache, but a nice master bedroom with a king bed and flat screen tv. The bathroom was the best feature, with beautiful stone tiling and huge shower stall - perfect for three teeanage girls! Also liked the fact that there was a washer/dryer to keep clothes clean without having to walk to a laundromat. The Aina Nalu is not finished being built, and in the middle of pounding and workmen everywhere - a bit disconcerting for the three teenage girls to walk around from the pool in their bikinis. Once it is finished, it will be a very lovely place, but I recommend a new mattress. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent staff and service Jay, Phoenix, AZ, 2006-08-02 A short drive to NaLa Tavern. Great location, terrific food. The Aina Nalu has excellent staff and service. This resort is in the middle of a major renovation, from standard hotel to condo, suites. While there is still construction going on, the staff is friendly and helpful. There are no restaurants on the grounds, but many food options close by. The location is excellent. 2 short blocks to Front Street, the main street in Lahaina. So you're close to the action but can also have peace and quiet. Score 4 out of 5 Great Location Rebecca, Kansas City, MO, 2006-07-24 You must go to Cool Cat's at the top of the Wharf building for a hamburger. They had reasonable prices and they were excellent. We got the recommendation for it from a sailboat crew that was headed there for lunch. Yum!The Aina Nalu was not exactly what we expected. The location was perfect! We could walk to all the wonderful Lahaina shopping and dining venues. This place has some real potential. It is being converted to condos currently. It was a hotel before but a lot of the hotel ammenities are gone. The place is undergoing major renovations. The small pool is done but don't expect the big pool and hottub for quite some time. Over all our stay was pleasant and for the money we'd like to come back when the place is really a Resort When they get there it will be quite lovely. Some of the little sculptures and water features around the place were very pleasant. Let me just warn travelers that a Garden View means that outside your windows will be a small rock garden area with a few tropical folliage plants. It will extend out about 3 feet and then you'll see someone's car. It seems like all the rooms have outside windows looking at the Garden View and then the parked cars. Don't expect a lush tropical garden to hang out in you'll be disappointed. Score 5 out of 5 Maui, The Best ! James, Chicago, IL, 2006-07-21 The hotel location was great. When I`m on vacation I like to drive and see as much as po ssible. The hotel was easy in easy out. The staff was very friendly and great with directions. Can`t wait to go back. Score 5 out of 5 A work in progress George, Phoenix, AZ, 2006-07-17 Shopping, art galleries, the harbor park with one of the world's largest trees, and restaurants are all a short walk away down Dickenson St.We recently stayed at the Aina Nalu resort in Lahaina. We were very satusfied with what we found. It is a hotel that's being completely renovated from a fleabag to very nice condominium units. Everyone stays in the new units now, as the old units have been completely stripped. We had a brand new two bedroom, two bath unit with a fully equipped kitchen, slate walk-in showers, comfortable beds, etc. It was VERY nice. The staff is trying to create a 4 star ambience with backhoes all around, so it is a bit disconcerting at first. BUT, the location is a short two block walk to Front St. in Lahaina, where all the action is. An historic church is right next door, and the old coral stone prison that Pappillon was filmed at is right down the block on Wainee St. There are some nice little restaurants just around the corner and the hotel is set against the Maui mountainrange for a spectacular backdrop. The harbor is two blocks away also. Yes, we would definitely stay here again and hope the prices don't jump drastically. Score 4 out of 5 good place but noisy Naveen, San Jose, CA, 2006-07-15 The Lahaina harbor abd front street shopping district is very close by.Aina Nalu had very well decorated, spacious and majestic rooms and bathrooms, comfortable beds and a fully furnished kitchen. The room also had a washer/dryer installed. Also, each room had a flat screen TV. On the fip side, our room air conditioners were very noisy so we had to turn them off and there was construction noise close by. -- Overall the pluses outweigh the minues and I would definitely recommend this place. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Aina Nalu Resort Douglas, Orange County, CA, 2006-07-13 Lahaina town with all its features are 3 blocks away. The property does not have its own restaurant. The Aina is a series of buildings in which are contained 1-2-3 bedroom, as well as studio, units. They are still building. Everything is new. Most everything is what would be considered upgraded at a hotel. They have some very good rates during the building phase. They have one swimming pool and are planning another. The fitness room is not yet ready. There is no restaurant on the property. But it is about 3-blocks to downtown Lahaina, where there are very good restaurants. It's like living in a big city, but instead you're on Maui. We had a wonderful time. Will stay there so long as the above applies. Like living in your own new condo. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Aina Nalu Resort Anonymous, Tulsa, OK, 2006-06-11 Located in Lahaina and a short walk to Front Street and a short drive to some great beaches.A condo type room. Very nice. Two bedrooms two bath and full well stocked kitchen. |
