Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Poipu beach is beauiful, great sunsets Anonymous, San Francisco, CA, 2006-10-31 The shopping village across the street has a couple of good restaurants. Keoki's has great seafood and primrib, had a good omlett at Roy's. You can drink and "walk" back to the hotel. The Outrigger Plantation is located on Poipu beach. We had a garden room not too far from the beach. Would recommend an upgrade to the ocean view. The rooms are very large and open. Windows are covered in screen wire with wooden slats that open and close for privacy, so keep in mind you can hear others and they can hear you. We were very dissapointed with the swimming pool located across the street. It is open from 8am to 6pm with a very small hot tub. The Outrigger should have its own pool on site. Score 5 out of 5 ideal family vacation spot! nancy, Arcata, CA, 2006-07-29 The beaches are great, restaurants are in the shopping center across the street, and Plantation Gardens restaurant, open only for dinner, is exceptional for food and service. The restaurant by the pool across the street is great for lunch.Staying at the Kiahuna Plantations was like having our own "home away from home". My whole family loved it. The spacious lawns invited you to play outdoor games, take long walks, and the outdoor barbecues were wonderful for entertaining our whole family for dinner. We absolutely loved the accommodations. The rooms felt really spacious, the kitchen was fully equipped and the lanai was spacious enough to serve as an outdoor dining room. Score 4 out of 5 nice but no air conditioning steve, Sacramento, CA, 2006-07-27 There is a small strip center across the street but without Grocerys. The nearest Grocerty store is about 7 min drive. The location is fantastic but without air conditioning july can be a problem on hot days. Other than that the beach that is on the property is one of the best on the island. Score 5 out of 5 A great place to enjoy paradise Anonymous, San Francisco, CA, 2006-05-18 We enjoyed dining at Casablanca whhich is located across the street. The Beach House restaurant (a short drive away) was a memorable setting for Mother's Day dinner and a good spot to watch the sun set.The Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation was an ideal place for our family vacation. The condo was very comfortable and clean. The staff was extremely courteus and requests made to housekeeping were quickly addressed. Grounds are well maintained and it is a very relaxing environment. We enjoyed watching the birds from our lanai and relaxing out on the lawn at the end of a busy day of exploring the island. Snorkling was very good at the beaches within easy walking distance from the grounds. If you are looking for a pleasant place to stay which has some of the ammenities of a hotel, but all of the conveniences of a condo, Kiahuna Plantation is a great choice and a good value. Score 5 out of 5 Gorgeous gardens on the beach! Jeri, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-02-17 All sights and attractions are a short drive, and being right on Poipu Beach,"the most beautiful beach in the U.S." was a real plus. Our comfortable condo was set in the most beautiful tropical garden, and a short stroll to the beach. Every amenity in the condo was there for our comfort. A jacuzzi would be a nice addition. I'll go back here for certain. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2005-11-23 No review provided by user Score 5 out of 5 Relaxing Hawaiian Getaway Rohit, Minneapolis, MN, 2005-10-27 Kiahuna beach is only steps away, oceanfornt barbeciung is also available. Snorkeling, surfing, and swimiing are good steps away from the hotel. This is more than just a hotel. The condominium type rooms are spacious and comfortable with an impressive, large deck with an ocean view. Its more like getting away to your own cabin than staying in a hotel which fits in very nicely with the relaxed, laid back atmosphere in Kauai. The units each have a full, well stocked kitchen including a dishwasher. We were impressed and a little surprised that the cleaning staff actually did our dirty dishes for us every day. Score 4 out of 5 beautiful beach Anonymous, Kalamazoo, MI, 2005-10-14 This is great place for a family or large group. The 1 bedroom had plenty of room and is very clean. Unfortunately the pool was not close-across the road. Howver, the rooms are right on Poipu Beach-the best for snorkling and swimming. The sand was beautiful. Have fun. There is no breakfast or bar on site. Score 5 out of 5 Great place for first trip to Kauai Anonymous, Portland, OR, 2005-07-30 1. Keoki's across Poipu Road has decent food and a fun atmosphere. Prices are mid-range depending what you order. It is convenient if you don't feel like cooking at the condo. 2. Oki's Diner in Lihue has delicious local fare if you don't mind a bit of a drive. Prices are cheap.Overall, Kiahuna Plantation was everything we wanted in accomodations as first time visitors. Each condo is decorated differently and depending upon the location, you are either closer or farther from the beach. Noise can be a factor in the rooms closest to Poipu Road. There is a shopping center across a very busy road (especially in the evening) with various priced restaurants. Reservations are recommended as we had to wait over an hour and half at Keoki's. The grounds are lush and well manicured. The closest beach to the hotel is relatively small in length however, it never felt crowded and the waves/water are calm and warm. It was nice to have towels/chairs close by for the beach. The staff at the front desk as well as the activities counter were helpful and informative. They are available to make any reservations for island activities and are willing to accomodate any needs. |
