Just Ok

Long walk to the touristy areas in town. Short drive to groceries. There is a convenience store a block away.

There is a separate master's suite. The living room opens up to magnificent views of the ocean. There is a small kitchen which is adequately furnished. Having two bathrooms is a plus. However, two of our towels were dirty (inspect before use). Furnitures are rattan and pretty good shape. The hotel is undergoing renovation and I think we got one of the older rooms. There is no beach in this hotel. It is a rocky volcanic shore which is dangerous to step into. They do have a sandy sunbathing area. The pool is great and they have a gas grill area. No other facilities to speak of. We visited 3 other resorts while we were there and found them to be better. So while this place is not bad, we rate it as just ok.

Exceeded our expectations

There is an abundance of shopping and dining options in Kona, 1 1/2 miles north, and at Keauhou, 5 miles south. The bar at Outrigger Keauhou has a nice, inexpensive menu and is pleasant for a light supper.

We were surprised when we arrived: it was smaller, nicer, nearer the ocean, with better views, and better located than we had expected. Our condo was extremely roomy and well kept up. The staff was very responsive and friendly. We had a delightful time and would highly recommend it as a place to stay in Kona. Kona by the Sea exceeded our expectations (and we are not easily impressed!)

Beautiful Location, but ...

These condominiums are at a convenient location right on the ocean with gorgeous sunset views. It has a great pool and sand area for lounging right by the ocean. The individual units are curretly being re-modeled one at a time. That means that you must tolerate construction noise,and could be put in a unit that has not been re-modeled in a long time.

Kona by the Sea is the Best!

Everything was very close. Short driving distance and some of you may like to walk. Shopping and dining are all located in the village. Very convenient!

Kona by the Sea was beautiful, clean and very spacious. The view from our room was just beautiful. It was so nice to hear the ocean from our room. The location was excellent. Right on the main highway but not too close to the village, so it was nice and quiet. I plan to come back next summer. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

A pleasant surprise

Lots of great restaurants nearby.

Not knowing what the Kona By The Sea was like, we were elated to find such a quality facility. The location was easy to find, the unit was a two bedroom, two bath, double deck, roomy gem. For the cost it was the best value of our four night stay in Kona.
