Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Great location for shopping, not for beach hopping Anonymous I stayed at this hotel for only one night. The room was very comfortable overall. However, if you would like to go to beaches, don't choose this hotel unless you have a car. The other concern about this hotel was that they don't check luggages. Again, it's not a problem if you have a car. Otherwise, I really like this hotel for its comfort and its location. Score 5 out of 5 Great Stay for locals and budget seekers Erika, Springfield, IL right across the street are shops, restaurants, land marks, and the beachOk its not the Ritz, but this centralized location is a perfect setting for those who want to experience an old Hawaii feel, with somewhat modern comforts. The beds were surprisingly very comfortable. They provided shampoo and other small amenities. The walls are like lava rock real lava rock. Very tropical, very clean. Lots of Local people stay there. Its idealy located right smack dab in the middle of Alii drive strip close to everysingle thing. Looks so tropical friendly staff. Easy check in check out. NO hassle. Loved it and it was soooooooooo reasonably priced. Excellent stay for an overnighter or for someone who isn't looking for 5 star quality. Score 5 out of 5 Family Friendly Anonymous, Cleveland, OH Lots of dining close by. Bubba Gump's restaurant, Huggo's (live entertainment @ night), Lava Java, Basil's Pizza (Billy Crystal's favorite), Splash's. . . Also, lots of shopping on the boardwalk and all down Ali'i Drive. Great beaches for snorkeling, swimming, scuba, or boarding within walking distance. The pool was roped off for most of the time for cleaning while we were there. Close to shopping, dining, beach. Rooms were clean. The bathroom was separate from the vanity area, which is nice, and there was plenty of room for suitcases. The room was comfortable and not too outdated and for the price, it was great. Elevators were quick, staff was friendly. Score 4 out of 5 Great Location Anonymous, 2007-02-05 Many small cafes nearby for coffee and a quick breakfast.Great place to stay at an affordable rate. Clean hotel, internet access to print out boarding passes and a very friendly staff! Score 2 out of 5 You get what you pay. Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2006-12-30 Just cross the street, there are various kinds of cuisines. We got what we paid. Other national brand hotels were too expensive, so we felt fair to stay at this property. Located in the downtown village is a big plus. There was some humid smell in the room, and the refrigerator is not cold enough. Score 1 out of 5 Not what to expect. Richard, Spokane, WA, 2006-11-14 This location is a great place for walking to beaches, shops, and many fine eating places. Some fantastic sunsets can be seen with just a short walk.Uncle Billys was not what we expected. The hotel is currently going under rennovation and may be better in the future. It sits on a main tourist location which at night is a location where cruisers go up and down the street with thier radios on full blast with the bass turned up high. This makes the whole building shake. Upon signing out we discovered that they charge $5.00 a day for parking which we were unaware of. Although most of thier staff ware pleasent it only takes one or two to put a bad taste in your mouth. Score 1 out of 5 Very dirty and noisy Anonymous, 2006-11-03 Many restaurants are within walking distance.Room was dirty. Bedsheets are threadbare. Noisy HVAC. Noisy outside of room due to street parties. Score 5 out of 5 Awsome,Nice Place Billy's is! Brian, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-11-02 Kone brewing companyI did not stay at Billys for anything but to sleep, there was to much to do on the big island. The place was very nice and and the price was right for me.They have everthing there or nearby you need. The only thing they do'nt till you is that you have to pay $5.00 a day for parking when you leave! Score 4 out of 5 Uncle Billy's Kona Walter, Syracuse, NY, 2006-08-09 Shopping and dining options galore within a brief walk. Great food at Hard Rock Cafe and Bubba Gumps. The variety of shops seemed almost endless. Accesss to great snorkling, Mauna Kea adventures, national parks, and beaches was super. The staff was very accomodating especially when asked to assist us in changing to a King room,,,,,,very helpful and courterous. Conveniently located to Kona and all of its attractions. I would stay there again. Breakfast menu was fair but for 7.99 plus beverage it was tolerable. Parking costs $5.00/night and was sometimes difficult to find a spot as well as being very tight quarters. Only real complaint was an eveny on the last evening of stay, my wife stepped into a hole in the driveway asphalt and fell to the ground quite hard as well as scrping her knee. The hole was approximately 4-5 inches across and several inches deep and was clearly in the pathway of guests walking to and from KOna streets...........this incident occurred at night and area was poorly lit. No orange cone tro alert a poential problem. Even after we reported incident to security, no warning device was in place even the next morning! Staff was friendly about the incident but the response to remediate the problem was slow and in all honesty perhaps Uncle Billy's in Kona should have at least given one night free or complimentary breakfast. Thank God no broken bones............................ Score 4 out of 5 Review Viet, San Jose, CA, 2006-08-05 Not many attractions in this island and the 'good swimmable' beaches are very far away. Shopping is just a walking distance but there are not many activities like in Waikiki. The city needs to have more attraction/entertaiment to attract more tourists. |
