The Mexican restaurant across the road was very good and prices were exceptionally reasonable.

The Kona Castle Reef condo resort has a great location on the ocean front and is within walking distance to downtown Kona, which saved us a bundle on driving and parking. Our unit was clean and comfortable, but in serious need of repairs and upgrades.

Walking to the main dining and shopping area of Kona is a piece of cake since it is flat and a very short distance from the condo. A local farmer's market is in the center of the tourist area on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. You will have to do some driving to access the snorkel areas.

Our one-bedroom condominium was newly remodeled and very appealing It was well furnished, with the exception of having uncomfortable chairs to view television. The pool and barbecue areas were a pleasure to use as they were both very clean and well-maintained. We did pay an extra $30 a day to upgrade to an oceanview room--not sure we got our money's worth on that since each condo has an ocean view.

Check out the sandy beach right next door to relax and/or go snorkleing.

This condominium resort wss located within walking ditance of dining, shopping and nightlife, yet was quiet and secluded. It was also next to a sandy beach excellent for snorkeliin or for lounging on the hot sand as well as a rocky shore perfect for tide pool researching. Our oceanfront condo was a perfect setting for a wonderful visit to the Big Island of Hawaii.

The sandy beach south of the hotel is very nice. We saw a turtle, and played in the waves. A bit further, a good snorkeling place

We were happy with the view, the location, the large balcony with dining table, wireless internet, barbecue place and staff. The bedroom was kind of noisy (traffic on the street) and hot at night. It had only a ceiling fan, and the air conditioning unit from the living room did not help in the bedroom. Overall, good value for the money.

It is a very nice place, but the swimming pool was closed for several days due to renovation. The renovation work was noisy which was very annoying. Had we know the pool would have been closed, we would have checked into another condo.

Pleny of shops and restaurants along Alii Dr. Beautiful view & just a short walk from hotel.

The Castle Kona Reef,Kailua-Kona,HI(Big Island)is located in a lovely spot right on the ocean. The view from our window & deck was tremendous. The condo style room (with kitchen area) was spacious & comfortable.The separate bedroom was also very comfortable with a large closet. The swimming pool area (facing the ocean)with gas grills & tables was great.Hotel staff was extremely friendly & helpful.Hotel is close enough to walk to shops & restaurants but not right in the middle of all the commotion.Our family had a wonderful time.We had all the comforts & amenities of home,only in a great spot right on the ocean.

I'd Stay here Again

I was a short drive for us, however, the young at heart will enjoy the walk to the main strip of Kona and all the shopping and resturants. Good location...

The staff were friendly, everyone very nice! The room was great and the view of the ocean, and pool area were fantastic. We stayed only one night because we had a conda up north of Kona, however, had we known how nice this place was we would have planned our stay here instead! Will keep this place in mind when we return to Kona.
