Location, Location, Location

robert, Phoenix, AZ, 2007-03-07

Shrimp trucks, simple meals prepared in vans on the road side are good and fun. Great chinese restaurant in a mall about 2 miles north of the hotel. I think it is called the chop suey house. It is in a strip mall but the food is truly great and reasonable.

Amazing location, friendly staff, very clean, wonderful pool and two beaches. Great to snorkle and just hang out. The big problem was the restaurants. All were overpriced with below average food. Once you get the lay of the land and find other places to eat outside of the hotel you are fine. Spa is ok, not as good as you would expect and the facials are basically just face massages, not even sure if the staff was certified to do real facials. Overall, the place gets a good vote due to the nice staff, the great location, and the pool and beaches. It is really all there is on the North Shore which is a nice break from Honolulu.

Great Secluded Hotel

jeremy, Charleston, WV, 2007-03-02

Great famous little dive shacks on the sides of the road that have reasonable priced plates of local seafood....the true islanders usually hit these shacks, so it's great to get an experience of their culture. It's only @ a 5 minute drive.

The Turtle Bay Resort is a wonderful escape for being on the busy island of Oahu. If you want the city experience or Nightlife experience, I would not stay here, stay in Waikiki but be careful of parking fees, they are outrageous...averages @ $3.50 per half hour. This resort was very secluded. Due to the 20ft waves in the area from Japan, the water is cold so be prepared but the beaches maybe had 15 people total and if you walk around, sometimes we never saw anyone. All the rooms excl. the suites are all the same size, the differences in price are the balconies, so if that doesn't matter, save some money and get the small lanai. I would not book the luau here, it's not worth the money, I'd book the luau at the polynesian center, same price and they have loads of activities and culture and it's only @ 15 minutes from the hotel. As mentioned in previous reviews, the restaurants are pretty pricey, averaging $30-$60 per plate for dinner, but if you rent a car, you have some other choices around a 15-20 mile radius. They do have a small fridge in the room, so if you are budget conscious as we are, hit the grocery store and prepare breakfast and lunch. We checked out some of the five star hotels in Waikiki and due to the congestion of the city and the beaches, we would definitely stay at the Turtlebay resort again.

Although all dining in Hawaii is on the expensive side we felt that the hotel restaurants were over priced.

The Turtle Bay Resort was more than my wife and I expected. The staff was very friendly at all times, the room had plenty of space, the bathroom and vanity where seperate and spacious. The location was private, but only a short ride away from all of the attractions. The restaurants at the resort were 5 star. The turtle bay resort was exactly what we wanted, and plan on going someday.

Polinesian Cultural Center was a great experience.

Hotel staff was extremly friendly and helpful. I will go back again with my family, because they are about children and friendliness!!! Room was very comfortable and clean all the time. It is the perfect place to relax and an excellent get away from the busy Waikiki area. It felt like nature!

great service

The Polynesian Cultural Center is about 10 miles from the resort. It opens around noon and you can spend all day and evening there. Several restaurant to choose from and there is an evening show that is must see.

Turlte Bay Resort had everything in the hotel. Several restaurants many different stores. I made several trips to one in particular. It was a convenience store which most any thing you could imagine. The room had plently of storage. There was a local newpaper at my door every morning.

Fun in the Hawaii sun

Heidi, Seattle, WA, 2007-02-20

There are several beautiful beaches to stop at along the way to the resort. And for some great road snacks, make sure to stop and get some Huli Huli chicken at any number of road stands. Delicious!

Turtle Bay Resort was absolutely beautiful! Our ocean view room was so nice we had to keep the deck door open at night, just so we could listen to the sounds of the ocean. I also liked the fact that outside of the bathroom was a 2nd sink and vanity area with a very large closet. Aside from the beach that surrounds the resort, Turtle Bay has a very nice pool (next to the Mai Tai bar!), as well as a couple of different pools for the kids. There really is no need to even leave the resort!

Hotel staff great

karina, 2007-02-19

Great beaches not to far from the resort. Shrimp Shacks were super and the food/price was great. Historic town, a short drive from the resort, had a great coffee stop and shops to visit.

The Turtle Bay Resort was located in a super beautiful setting and definitely a great place for a golfer. We were even amazed that if we touched the two small bottles of water left in our room, we would be charged $3.00 per bottle!! Our first dinner at the Palm Terrace was very good and the seafood buffet was excellent. The second night we tried Ola, the little grill/bar on the beach and we weren't acknowledged for 15 min., never offered a menu and we sat at a dirty table. The server was quicker in giving us the bill! No thank-you and not even is there anything else I can get you?!! The charge of $15. per day was still charged even if we didn't use the service (tennis courts, towells, etc...) Which we felt was incorrect. The view from the lani was very beautiful! The shrimp shacks down the road from Turtle Bay Resort were awesome!!!
