During your Honolulu vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
National Cemetery of the Pacific
The National Cemetery of the Pacific (also known as "the Punchbowl") is an ash-and-lava tuff cone that exploded about 150,000 years ago -- like Diamond Head, only smaller. Early Hawaiians called it Puowaina, or "hill of sacrifice." The old crater is a burial ground for 35,000 victims of three American wars in Asia and the Pacific: World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Among the graves, you'll find many unmarked ones with the date December 7, 1941, carved in stone. Some will be unknown forever; others are famous, like that of war correspondent Ernie Pyle, killed by a Japanese sniper in April 1945 on Okinawa; still others buried here are remembered only by family and surviving buddies. The white stone tablets known as the Courts of the Missing bear the names of 28,788 Americans missing in action in World War II.Survivors come here often to reflect on the meaning of war and to remember those, like themselves, who stood in harm's way to win peace a half-century ago. Some fight back tears, remembering lost buddies, lost missions, and the sacrifices of those who died.
Kualoa Ranch and Activity Club
This once-working ranch now has five different adventure packages covering two dozen activities on its 4,000 acres. Activities include horseback riding, mountain-bike riding, shooting a rifle or a .22-caliber handgun, hiking, dune cycling, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling, freshwater fishing, and more. We highly recommend the beach activities. You'll be shuttled to Molii fishpond's outermost bank, which is decked out like a country club: hammocks on the beach, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, Ping-Pong tables, and beach pavilions. From here, you can take a 45-foot catamaran to Kaneohe Bay for snorkeling.
Pali Golf Course
This beautiful municipal course sits near Kaneohe, just below the historic spot where King Kamehameha the Great won the battle that united the islands of Hawaii. The par-72, 6,494-yard course, designed by Willard G. Wilkinson and built in 1953, makes use of the natural terrain (hills and valleys make up the majority of the 250 acres). The course does not have man-made traps, but a small stream meanders through it. If you're off line on the ninth, you'll get to know the stream quite well. The challenge here is the weather -- whipping winds and frequent rainsqualls. Because of the potential for rain, you might want to pay for nine holes, and then assess the weather before signing up for the back nine. The views include Kaneohe Bay, the towns of Kailua and Kaneohe, and the verdant cliffs of the Koolau Mountains. Facilities include practice greens, club rental, locker rooms, and a restaurant.

Clean and good location

Several restaurants nearby have great meals for under $10.00.
The Queen Kapiolani is in a very good location. Close to the beach, shops and restaurants. The hotel is older, but the room was clean. The room was small, but I don't go on vacation to stay in the room. The room is for sleep and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was ok, and there were many other restaurants within walking distance. The pool was OK, and the beach was 1 block from the hotel. The staff was friendly and nice. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to save money on sleeping arrangements to have more money for fun stuff.
Great value

Beach is half a block, Zoo across the street, Starbucks on the corner, who could ask for more?
This was my first stay at the Queen. I arrived about an hour early and I was delighted that I had been up graded to an ocean view room and could check in immediately. Very nice with windows on two walls with a small deck Ewa. However, I had 2 friends stay there 10 days later (in the cheapest rooms available)and they had to have their keys redone 3 times, not pleased the their room.
Friendly atmosphere

The hottest nightclub is 1/2 block away (LULU's) and also offers a great lunch menu. The hotel's restaurant is the best deal in the entire area for good, inexpensive meals. You'd have to go to Mc'Ds or BK to get anything cheaper. To get to the hotel from the airport, Take H1 East and exit King.
The beds needed replacing and were uncomfortable. Free street parking is very close and located due East of the hotel on Monsarrat Ave (the entire eastern border of the Zoo). The staff were nice and helpful in all instances. The hotel has some great paintings of the Hawaiian Monarchy that is good for better understanding and learning. The impact of the paintings gives the hotel a strong, historical impact to the visitor.

close to the beach, zoo and downtown attractions
Location was good, rooms need to be upgraded. It was only a 3 night stay waiting for our condo in Ko Olina. Could not wait to get to the condo. Parking and access to Wikiki was easy. Only stayed in the room to sleep at night and shower.
