Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Great Location David, Orange County, CA There is everything from fast food to elegant restaurants all within a short walk. Also there is plenty of shopping and nightlife. The hotel provides a free trolley (The Pink Line) to get around Waikiki if needed. The Ohana Waikiki West, although not fancy, was perfect for our group of 3 travelers as it provided comfortable beds, a small kitchenette and table, a clean bathroom, an iron and hair dryer and a safe in the room. The hotel provides free long distance calls as long as the call is under 15 minutes. For us, the best part about this hotel is its location. It is right in the center of Waikiki which makes it easy walking distance to any place in Waikiki you want to go. There is a Chili's restaurant adjacent to the hotel and numerous other reasonably priced eateries all around it. Trollies and city busses run right in front of the hotel making it easy access to any location in Honolulu. The beach is only about 2 blocks away. I have stayed in this hotel before and would gladly stay here again in the future. Score 4 out of 5 Acceptable Accomodations Tara, San Francisco, CA, 2007-03-12 International Marketplace is about a block away and the beach and beach shops are just 2-3 blocks away. The Ohana West was an acceptable hotel. The cost was affordable. Having an in-room kitchenette was a plus, especially with an infant. We were able to save some money on food and prepare and store the baby's formula. Our room was facing the back of the hotel, so there was very little privacy - we were facing other rooms which sometimes felt a little claustrophobic. The staff was very friendly, but I don't think our room was cleaned thoroughly each day...towels and sheets were changed, but the shower and sink were never really wiped down. The location was walkable to the beach and shopping, and the shuttle stopped right in front. However, overall, I would probably pay a little more next time for nicer accomodations and better service. Score 4 out of 5 Close to the beach and shopping Anonymous, 2007-03-09 There is a Chili's directly connected to the lobby as well as close proximity to many other eateries.Good value for the money. The Ohana Waikiki West room had a small kitchenette with a stove top, microwave, small fridge and coffee pot. There is a full grocery store in the next block for shopping. Seemed to be lots a families and close to the beach. Score 5 out of 5 Wonderful Hotel Anonymous, Lewiston, ID, 2007-03-08 Lots of shops around; best thing was being across the street from the International Market Place! Great shopping at a great price!Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice, but noticeable wear and tear in the bathroom of our room: lifting wallpaper, tile was dingy. There was enough storage for three suitcases worth of clothing, and it was nice having a balcony! The walk to the beach was only two blocks, and the hotel was in a localized area where you could go to many different things/shops. It was very handy having it as a shuttle stop! Score 4 out of 5 My review of OHANA Waikiki West Anonymous, 2007-02-06 Dining and shopping and beach are a short walk. We used local city bus rather than trolley to get around. Shuttles can also take you to all activities(cheaper than renting and parking).Good location, easy walk to beach, restaraunts and shopping all around. This is somewhat of a "basic" clean hotel, but we didn't spend too much time at the hotel. Shower is small(no tub). No need to rent a car in this area which is good because parking is expensive. Score 5 out of 5 Inexpensive "Place to sleep" Richard, 2006-11-29 International Market Place was right across the street. Just a ways down and over were the big name stores, Louis Vitton, Tiffany and Co., Armani and so many more. When we arrived at the hotel and saw our room. It was small, although some of the other rooms we saw were big. The price was unbeatable and my girlfriend and I were only there to sleep. It was only a short walk from the beach which made it fun for my girlfriend and I. There was so much to do just within walking distance. The staff was VERY friendly and made the stay all that much better. The pool was nice and wasn't crowded at all. If you are staying in Waikiki and need a place to stay. I would definitely recommend Ohana Waikiki West for you fun and adventurous stay in Hawaii. Score 5 out of 5 great front desk and bell man Anonymous, Kahului, HI, 2006-11-19 on the bus line, across the street from international market place, easy walk to kalakaua ave(main street in waikiki)great location, easy access to bus, the front desk was very friendly, true ALOHA..bellman(s) was extremely friendly, again TRUE ALOHA..the bed was comfy, clean enough, black scuffs on the wall, needs a fresh up paint job, but otherwise clean and tidy... the only thing that was bothersome..the woman in the next room was either on the phone or talking loudly at 5am!..i wanted to bang on the wall but didnt want to wake up my partner who was sleeping thru this. Score 4 out of 5 good location Steven, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-10-17 XLNT Location- alot of shopping, beach is close, etc.Great spot- however- the earthquake we experienced on our vacation ruined our stay! no food, hotel did not have a backup plan for feeding guests-- a bad deal. But, prior to this hotel was XLNT Score 5 out of 5 Good Location and friendly staff Franklin, Amarillo, TX, 2006-10-07 There were eating places very close. It was very comfortable but a little noisy from the street. The rooms were nice and clean. Score 4 out of 5 Friendly and Fun Anonymous, Springfield, IL, 2006-08-24 There are GOOD restuarants on every corner and you could spend hours shopping with only a block in walking distance. The Ohana West was centrally located and very close to everything. The view of downtown (at night) was georgous and we were able to see the beach from the pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was big with plenty of space. I was dissatisfied with the fact they do not have a business center nor wireless internet within the hotel (I had to go to the Starbucks) especially since my purpose of this trip was business. The bathroom showers are very small and not easy to manuver around in. But, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the hotel staff made it comfortable for us and they were extremely kind to us. I would stay here again. |
