I HAVENT BEEN 2 HONOLULU SINCE 1989, AND I WAS SCARED OF THE NEW BUILDINGS. THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY, THE ROOMS WERE OFF THE HOOK! I FELT SO AT HOME AND COMFORTABLE IN MY ROOM, I ACTUALLY WAS A LIL 2 COMFORTABLE AND SPENT A WHOLE DAY IN THE ROOM RELAXING, SOON TRYING OUT THE POOL AND HOT TUB, MIGHT I ADD WAS BEAUTIFUL! I CAME HOME 2 LAX AND BRAGGED ABOUT IT 2 ALL MY CO-WORKERS, FRIENDS, AND FAMILY! Score 1 out of 5 Disappointed Anonymous, Seattle, WA, 2006-12-16 Shopping and restaurants were within a short walk. The International Market Place was right down the street. For a less-crowded beach and every bit as beautiful, Ala Moana is a short drive from the hotelThis was my first time to Hawaii and I was very disappointed in our room. Prior to our arrival I had sent an email inquiring as to a room with a view (or partial view) and one bed; however, I did not get a response. I was disappointed to find two double beds in a small room - which does not make for a very romantic stay. Although the room overlooked the pool, there was absolutely no view of any part of the ocean. From the elevator to the halls to the room, it was pretty dismal. It looks like the entire facility could use a "remodel" or freshening up. The air conditioner was poor - it did not really provide cool air, merely circulated the warm air. The water pressure in the shower was very poor, plus upon arrival, there was a used bar of soap in the shower which made me wonder if the shower/bath area had been cleaned. The morning street noise, i.e., garbage trucks, woke us up each and every morning. While the juice, fruit and muffins were nice in the morning, how about more of a variety instead of the exact same thing every morning? On the positive side, the front desk staff were absolutely wonderful, very patient with providing directions and answering "tourist" questions. The location was also good - within walking distance to shops as well as the beach. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to any of my friends. Score 5 out of 5 the staff was friendly and the lobby was clean all the times carolina, Columbus, OH, 2006-10-31 The Breakfast wasn't great. The pool, the lobby was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. The view was bad, we were looking at the wall, not good. They only provided one suitcase stand. What about the other suitcase? The parking.. really hard to park, to narrow. Score 1 out of 5 Review Jessica, Cleveland, OH, 2006-10-15 Great Beaches and foodwe had an upgraded suite and i wonder how bad a regular room would of been. We were also trapped there b/c of the Earthquake and they did nothing to help out the situation. They even did not discount the room b/c of the natrual diaster! they took the opportuinity to make more money. Do not stay here. to park your rental car you have to park down the street and pay a ridicoulous amt per day! This place didnt even have a decent pool to swim in. The water was green! They didnt even have a emergency EXIT signs that lit up! Score 5 out of 5 Nice Staff, Great 1 bedroom room, Excellent location Gene, Denver, CO, 2006-10-15 The beach is only a couple blocks and your there. The Aqua Bamboo was a wonderful hotel to stay. It felt very much like home. The location is excellent, walking distance to the beach, many shop, restarant etc all around the Aqua Bamboo. We will stay there again and we highly recommond this hotel. Score 4 out of 5 GREAT staff! Holly, Atlanta, GA, 2006-10-04 The walk to the beach was about two blocks. Not too far, but if you're there to spend time on the beach, think about checking out a hotel that is a little closer. Also, for good food, check out Keoni, a restaurant one block to the left of the hotel. The food was good and the atmosphere was really nice. The staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Our room was okay. We got what was called the "delux suite." It was up on the 12th floor, which provided GREAT views of the city, especially at night with all of the lights. The ocean view was very obstructed and almost non existant, but that's okay. We had 3 "balconies." Only one of which was a real balcony that you could stand or sit on. The other two were basically ledges with sliding doors with no room for a human to stand on. Still, nice to get the views and open air feeling. Our room was nice, but the hotel in general seemed a little run down. Our bathroom was nice. It had a seperate shower and bathtub, two sinks, nice bamboo ceilings, granite counter tops, etc. The bed was okay. A little hard, but they gave us lots of pillows. The TV was nice. It was a new flat screen. My friends room, which was located on the 8th floor, was also supposed to be delux. It was a LOT smaller and I would have been very disappointed if it were my room. The bathroom was SO tiny and seemed a little gross. The court yard area with the pool was really nice. The pool was salt water, but not too strong. The waterfall and lots of greenery was really nice and made the area feel really relaxing. There is also a very small hot tub. We managed to fit about 4 people in it, but it was a squeeze. If you stay here, definitely request a king size bed. The only rooms that have king size beds are on the very top floors and are the nicer kind like we had. |
