Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Review Anonymous No review provided by user Score 4 out of 5 Good value John, 2007-03-13 The hotel is near a nice/large public garden and is great for walking - it isn't far from downtown Hilo. The hotel is older, but nicer than most in the area. Score 4 out of 5 Good overnight Anonymous, Cedar Rapids, IA, 2007-02-03 The national park and volcano are wonderful. This hotel is older, but people were helpful and friendly. Given the other hotels in the area, it is clean and ok to stay at. Score 4 out of 5 Best Hotel in Hilo Anonymous, 2006-12-16 Harringtons was a good choice for dinner. Small and quaint overlooking Reeds Bay. Ken's Pancake House is also a short walk away and better to walk since there is not a lot of parking. The food here was big and good!We enjoyed our two night stay at the Hilo Hawaiian. The view of the bay is wonderful. The walk along the row of Banyan trees is very nice. The room was a good size with a very big bed. The hotel still had an old school feel to it. We had a delicious breakfast at the Queens Court dining room. The pool is very small and there is no hot tub (however there are no hot tubs at the other hotels in Hilo). Score 4 out of 5 Overall afair hotel Anonymous, 2006-12-11 There were several local food joints to you can check out within a two mile cruise. The Calstle Hilo Hawaiian was a good hotel, The hotel receptionist was very nice and room service was very prompt. They had a balcony view and was conveniently located by the famous, Big Island Cookies which was even better for last minute gift shopping. Also, the hotel was just a couple of miles from the airport. Overall I did enjoy my stay at the Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. Score 4 out of 5 Cheap nites stay Lowell, 2006-11-26 Bar down street was a dump. Bar in hotel was worser....We arrived late at night, and had only a taxi to take us 4 mi. form the airport to the hotel. Location o.k., restaurant iffy, room o.k., not real amenity other than pool. Only recommend this hotel as a stop-over location. Score 4 out of 5 Great Views! Michael, 2006-11-06 Try Blaines Drive-In for a quick, fun, casual lunch. The fish sandwich is very good! This is a comfortable, clean hotel (although not luxurious). The onsite restaurant is just OK. Probably better to go into town (just a mile and a half away) for a meal. Score 4 out of 5 Quiet and Nice Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-10-13 Everybody need to rent a car.Hotel was nice and relax. Ocean view was great. Nice to wake up with ocean sound and smell. It was almost like a stay my room in some ohter city. People are so nice and friendly. I went to down to Hawaii for vacation from LA so I was tired from City people so it was very nice to meet nice Island people. I will stay this hotel next time too. Score 2 out of 5 My review of Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel Anonymous, 2006-09-26 The Hilo Hawaiian seemed like one of the best hotels in Hilo, only because there are only 4 or 5 hotels in the area. Room was clean but outdated. Luckily it wasn't too hot because the air conditioner didn't work too well. I did feel like I was overpaying for what I was getting. Probably will be staying on Kona side next time. Score 4 out of 5 old but nice Anonymous, Sacramento, CA, 2006-08-05 Great park next doorThe Hilo Hawaiian was comfortable, clean but the beds could be updated. The staff was accomodating and kind. The rooms were large and quite. The Hotel was only 1.5 miles from the airport. No shuttle, just taxi. The taxi was one time. The restaurant was fine nothing special but there was another resturant close by. |
