Japanese influence is a bit unique

Anonymous, 2007-03-09

A paved path along the beach begins about 8-10 blocks downhill. The mile and a half walk goes past other resorts. Ending by the Shops at Wailea. The walk is well worth it. Then catch a ride on Maui Transit into Kehei or to Pi'ilani Center for Hilo Hatti's a must for shopping.

The room was clean, liberal in size, with limited kitchen. The grounds were beautiful and fastidiously maintained. The Japanese spa was a good excperience. Separate by the sexes but very large and interesting. Food prices were no more than other nice resorts in the area. The food itself was excellent. It is not on the beach but about 8 blocks or so up the hill. The result is that one tends to expand their local travels and consequently a wider experience.

Suitable for business and/or family

Dining is abundant in Wailea and nearby Kihei.

Very friendly staff that made it comfortable for all. The large shower and furo area was a nice amenity as well as the tatami mats. I enjoyed the Wailea area and its proximity to Kihei.

short drive to shopping, dinning and beachs

Very nice property, most units had a partial ocian view and we saw an amazing sunset. We did not use the hotel dinning or other amenities, but all seems great.

Our Japanese Maui Resort stay

Anonymous, Cleveland, OH, 2006-06-30

Lei of Wailea. A 1.5 mile walk through the backyards of all the resorts in Wailea.

Anyone who stays here might need explanation of how Japanese bathing system works.

Vacationer's Paradise

Diane, Phoenix, AZ, 2006-06-30

Polo beach is a 3 minute drive Big Beach is about 15 minutes and the food stands near Big Beach are excellent, especially the Mahi-Mahi Tacos at Jawz

The fact that every room was a suite was wonderful and the staff was friendly, accommodating, helpful and appreciative. Our room had a perfect view of the ocean that I thought was going to be near the water, however we were on a hill top and you needed to drive or take the hotel shuttle. Which was fine but I would have liked to know that before hand. The property was beautiful and very well maintained.

quiet relaxing place

Stacey, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-06-29

You can get to several beaches within minutes of leaving your hotel.

My husband and I recently just came back from vacationing in Maui. One of the best times I have ever had in Hawaii! The Diamond Hawaii Resort and Spa in Wailea was more than we ever could have imagined. Japanese at it's finest. The room was so spacious. We loved that so much. Having your own kitchen with Japanese tea sets and full sets of dishes felt so cozy. The Kona coffee is so delicious. I must say our favorite thing was the Japanese bathtubs. How relaxing. We also enjoyed sitting on the patio every morning having our coffee watching the birds visit. I still remember Ruby the red bird. We look forward to our next trip to the Diamond Resort and Spa.

Fabulous Facility with Great Service

Paul, Washington, DC, 2006-05-08

Lots of restaurants within a few minutes drive.

The Diamond Hawaii Resort & Spa is not only a beautiful and well maintained facility, but offers the warmest, friendliest service I've ever encountered at a hotel. Every staff member, from the check-in agent, to the groundskeepers, to the restaurant staff, to the maintenance workers, unfailingly greeted me with a sincere, warm, and friendly smile whenever I encountered them. I felt extremely welcome and appreciated the wonderful service and the first-class facilities that the resort offers.

Very Secluded/Quiet, Boring

Jimmy, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-05-07

Didn't really buy anything at the malls. For souveniors go to Costco, K-mart, and Wal-mart. A whole lot cheaper.

Nice hotel, but not beach front. Restaurant is very pricey (expect $70+/person). Hotel is located up the hill, sort of like a condo (e.g. stove, sink). Would not have booked the hotel if I knew is like a condo because don't want to cook while vacationing. Sales rep was not helpful during booking. Definitely won't recommend hotel to a friend.

Great front desk service

Eran, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-04-18

The Shops at Wailea have many different choices, from Rolex to Billabong.

The Diamond Resort and Spa is elegently tucked away from the crowds at Wailea. It is very peaceful. The front desk staff went out of their way to help us. The resort had a shuttle service if needed to go to the beach, hotels, and dining areas. It has a Japanese style spa for your comfort.
