During your Honolulu vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Puu O Mahuka Heiau
Go around sundown to feel the mana (sacred spirit) of this Hawaiian place. The largest sacrificial temple on Oahu, it's associated with the great Kaopulupulu, who sought peace between Oahu and Kauai. This prescient kahuna predicted that the island would be overrun by strangers from a distant land. In 1794, three of Captain George Vancouver's men of the Daedalus were sacrificed here. In 1819, the year before New England missionaries landed in Hawaii, King Kamehameha II ordered all idols here to be destroyed.A national historic landmark, this 18th-century heiau, known as the "hill of escape," sits on a 5-acre, 300-foot bluff overlooking Waimea Bay and 25 miles of Oahu's wave-lashed North Coast -- all the way to Kaena Point, where the Waianae Range ends in a spirit leap to the other world. The heiau appears as a huge rectangle of rocks twice as big as a football field (170 ft. by 575 ft.), with an altar often covered by the flower and fruit offerings left by native Hawaiians.
Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park
If you have kids, you have to take them here! This 29-acre water-theme amusement park opened in spring 1999 with some $14 million in attractions. Plan to spend the day. Highlights are a football field-sized wave pool for bodysurfing, two 65-foot-high free-fall slides, two water-toboggan bullet slides, inner-tube slides, body flume slides, a continuous river for floating inner tubes, and separate pools for adults, teens, and children. In addition, there are restaurants, food carts, Hawaiian performances, and shops.
Kapiolani Park
In 1877, King David Kalakaua gave 130 acres of land to the people of Hawaii and named it after his beloved wife, Queen Kapiolani. This truly royal park has something for just about everyone: tennis courts, soccer and rugby fields, archery, picnic areas, wide-open spaces for kite flying and Frisbee throwing, and a jogging path with aerobic exercise stations. On Sundays in the summer, the Royal Hawaiian Band plays in the bandstand, just as they did during Kalakaua's reign. The Waikiki Shell, located in the park, is host to a variety of musical events, from old Hawaiian songs to rock and roll.

Queen Kapiolani Hotel
The Queen Kapiolani Hotel overlooks the 108-acre Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head. Located just three minutes from Waikiki's world famous beach. A brief stroll to the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium.Beginning Nov 1 2006, the Queen Kapiolani will be a non smoking ...

hot water

Randall, Pueblo, CO

The worst thing about my stay at The Pacific Marina was that it was impossible to have a comfortable shower becasue the water temperature continually flucuated from too hot to too cold. When it became too hot I re-adjusted the temperature to a comfortable level only to have it become too cold a minute later. Then I needed to re-adjust the temperature again. Also, the computer at the business center table in the lobby was out of order. Also, the pay movie feature on the TV was out of order. Also, when I arrived (about 9:15pm) the resturant was closed and there aren't any other places to eat within waling distance.

A Place to Sleep

Troy, San Jose, CA

This is should only be considered as a place to stay overnight on an airport layover. At that it seems overpriced for the quality. They do have a reliable wake-up call and shuttle system to and from the airport.

Good for a quick overnight stop

Anonymous

The Pacific Marine Hotel is a good hotel for an overnight stop if you fly to Honolulu and are catching a flight to another island the next morning. It does have free airport transportation which is staffed by friendly and efficient drivers. The hotel itself is not near a Marina. It is in industrial park right next to the airport so I would not recommend it for family vacations or long stays. (Except those working close to the hotel) It is an old hotel, small rooms, dated equipment but it was clean. The grounds were maintained. The best feature was the very friendly, helpful and plentiful staff. The hotel served our purpose;airport shuttle and coffee available early in the morning. We did not take part in the lounge or the restaurant.

Close to Airport

Betty

Be sure to take a few minutes to explore the park that is behind the pool.

We had just an overnight in Honolulu and wanted a place close to the airport. The Pacific Marina Inn fit the bill perfectly. The shuttle quickly picked us up and within a few minutes we were at the front desk. The desk clerk was ready for us and within a few more moments we were checked in and into our rooms. Our place was 5 hours late but the promptness of the hotel even at the late hour made the trip less painful. The next day, we lounged by the pool and soon were on our way to our connecting flight. We would return.

quiet place ideal for short term stay

Anonymous, 2007-02-04

The Pacific Marine Inn hotel is very close to the Honolulu airport and the shuttle service is an added benefit. There was no elevator service, and the stairways were not properly lit. It was a bit confusing to track down the room and some renovation work was going on. But the room was comfortable, especially with a huge closet and shelves attached to the bathroom. It seemed that there was no dining facilities inside the hotel and I was told about the gas station nearby for food. There was coffee near the front desk in the morning, and it was nice. As a whole, the stay was comfortable, but Iam not sure if it was worth the money.

Budget minded stay

George, Denver, CO, 2006-11-11

Our stay at the Pacific Marina Inn Airport Hotel began by being picked up by their shuttle driver at the airport. He picked us up promtly and was very cheerful and caring. He drove us back to the hotel in a safe manner. The check in was very fast with very courteous staff. Our room was smaller than expected but clean and comfortable. Our queen sized bed was very comfortable too and the room was airconditioned. We thought our room was adequate for one night but, we probably would not want to stay there a week unless we were going to be away all day long each day. The outside walkway overlooked the parking lot which had nice palm trees. The courtyard was beautiful with many plants and flowers. The reasturant was next to courtyard and had very good food and was clean and comfortable as well. We checked out and were taken back to the airport by shuttle and dropped off at our carrier on time.

good for short stay

Anonymous, Kahului, HI, 2006-10-20

24 hour free shuttle to and from the airport

The Pacific Marina Inn is nothing to send home about. Although, for the price, you cannt beat the location for a short overnight near the airport. I would defenitely not stay here as a vacationer but it suits the needs of a person just needing to saty the night near the airport.
