During your Honolulu vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
U.S. Army Schofield Barracks
James Jones, author of From Here to Eternity, called Schofield Barracks "the most beautiful army post the U.S. has or ever had." The Honolulu Star Bulletin called it a country club. More than a million soldiers called Schofield Barracks home. With its broad, palm-lined boulevards and Art-Deco buildings, this old army cavalry post is still the largest operated by the U.S. Army outside the continental United States. And it's still one of the best places to be a soldier. The history of Schofield Barracks and the 25th Infantry Division is told in the small Tropic Lightning Museum,. Displays range from a 1917 bunker exhibit to a replica of Vietnam's infamous Cu Chi tunnels.
Pali Golf Course
This beautiful municipal course sits near Kaneohe, just below the historic spot where King Kamehameha the Great won the battle that united the islands of Hawaii. The par-72, 6,494-yard course, designed by Willard G. Wilkinson and built in 1953, makes use of the natural terrain (hills and valleys make up the majority of the 250 acres). The course does not have man-made traps, but a small stream meanders through it. If you're off line on the ninth, you'll get to know the stream quite well. The challenge here is the weather -- whipping winds and frequent rainsqualls. Because of the potential for rain, you might want to pay for nine holes, and then assess the weather before signing up for the back nine. The views include Kaneohe Bay, the towns of Kailua and Kaneohe, and the verdant cliffs of the Koolau Mountains. Facilities include practice greens, club rental, locker rooms, and a restaurant.
Honolulu Sailing Co
This company has been in business for 2 decades, offering a variety of sailing activities. Our favorite is the Diamond Head snorkel-picnic sail on the waves. During whale season (roughly Dec-Apr), check out the half- and full-day adventures to see whales, dolphins, flyingfish,

Street where hotel located - pretty much an alley.

Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-11-26

a block a way from Kuhio and Kapahula.

Rooms smelled musty and old. Not enough air circulation except for the lobby.Someone had fish for dinner in the other rooms and the smell permeated through the walls and stayed for days.Felt like you were stuck in the 70's- very retro and outdated.Place was dark! Needs a lot of maintenance.Unfortunatly, wouldnt recommend to others. When asking for directions to hot spots in the area staff was clueless to prov accurate directions. To us the bathroom was the only clean area.

Great Location

Kirsten, Denver, CO, 2006-09-25

Tiki's Bar, on top of the Resort Quest Waikiki, just a block south of the hotel was an awesome place to unwind. They have live music nighly and a wonderful view of the ocean.

I thought that this hotel was a wonderful value. Just a block from the main swim beach at Waikiki, tucked in and private, it was an incredible find. The room I had also come with a kitchenette, which became very handy for saving monty on the expensive food in Hawaii. All of the shoping and restraunts were within a block of the hotel.

Good place for sleeping.

Anonymous, Springfield, IL, 2006-07-17

There are lots of dining choices right near the Hotel on the main street (Kalakaua and Kapahulu).

The Ewa Hotel was very clean. It was in a tucked away area of Waikiki which made it very quiet (easy to sleep). when we checked in late (due to our late arriving flight) the woman at the front desk made some rude comments at us in Japanese (not realizing that I understood her). She seemed very unhappy at her job, and not even polite to guests. She worked the evening shift. The rooms were comfortable and its location made it easy to get out of Waikiki.
