Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 not happy Rodolso rooms were not cleaned ... beds just made and new towels hung ... very lazy staff.. had complaint and it took manager 29hrs to show up .. one of the complexes is completly shut down and over run with over growth .... not a pretty site when you pull up .... Score 4 out of 5 Good location Anonymous, Honolulu, HI, 2006-11-08 tourist stuffOld fashion but adequate. nice pool area. across street from nice nonbusy beach. Score 4 out of 5 Quiet and comfortable stay Tom, 2006-10-21 Kehei town centre is about 3 miles south. You could drive down Kehei road, but it is much faster to hop on the highway.Aston Maui Lu has good sized rooms which are very comfortable. There is a patio with screen door, and patio furniture to enjoy the fresh Hawaiian air. The pool is nice. The front desk is open 24 hours so you can check-out any time. It is across the road from the beach. It takes some patience to cross Kehei road during rush hours but you could drive across the street too (you are on vacation). Score 5 out of 5 Lovely, natural setting Jane, Burbank, CA, 2006-10-15 We drove 40 minutes to Lahaina to shop and eat. Kihei is a 5 minute drive from the hotel and has restaurants, supermarkets and shops. We snorkeled up and down the beautiful beaches from Kapulua to Kihei. Pick up those free traveler books for great bargains on excursions, renting golf clubs and snorkel/diving gear!I had never been to Maui before but knew I didn't want to stay in a huge overpopulated resort style facility. We checked into the Aston Maui Lu for 3 nights and my husband and I were delighted with the natural setting, few steps to the ocean and a feeling of privacy. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We had a coffeemaker and small fridge. Rooms had hairdryer, iron and ironing board. (The air conditioning was far better than a 5 star resort we stayed in on business our first 2 nights!) The furnishings could be updated and the linens weren't the Ritz. We traded opulence/expense for the natural beauty of Maui. The staff were very kind and accomodating. We always like to cook out once, wherever we travel. We shopped for steaks at a local market and were excited about grilling and watching the sunset over the ocean. The staff delivered a gas grill to us and set it up in the grassy area under the palm trees near the ocean. We had a lovely steak dinner and enjoyed the setting sun as our dinner cooked. It couldn't have been more perfect. For the traveler wanting 5 star, luxury resort, the Maui Lu isn't for you. For the traveler wanting to feel how resorts once were in an unspoiled, uncommercial setting, check it out. We plan on returning to the hotel our next trip. The ocean view room we had was very accomodating, with a private balcony lanii. It was a peaceful, relaxing and wonderful stay. We were there Sunday morning for the earthquake and the staff had everything under control, keeping all guests informed and even passing out flashlights for that evening in case the power wasn't restored. We were scheduled to fly out that day and returned home to California after a few wonderful days! Score 4 out of 5 My review of ASTON Maui Lu Resort Anonymous, Springfield, IL, 2006-10-14 The beach access is right across the street. There are many dining and entertainment places within 5-10 minute driving distance. The Maui Lu has a cabin feel to it. The wood had termites. The size of the room was larger than most economical rooms. The air conditioning was a plus, however it was noisy. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to others, unless they are just looking for a cheap overnite stay in Maui. Score 4 out of 5 staff very friendly Claire, 2006-10-07 1. Star Market has delicious 'sushis' 2. Do a 'plate' lunch at Da Kine, in Kihei, inexpensive and delicious, too. 3. Do the scenic drive to Makena, til La Perouse BayI loved the ocean view of the sandy beach from Room 514. The closeness of the beach was welcomed thus we walked the beach in the evening as well as in the morning before we departed. We were surprised to find in-room coffee, a refrigerator and a newspaper at the door the following morning. The size of the room, the confortable bed, air conditioner was fine; however, the bathroom needs some fix ups... the toilet seat was not level so it would slide off a bit, the levour windows did not seem secure. We did enjoy our one nite at the Maui Lu and would definitely return.... Score 5 out of 5 2nd Trip to Maui Donnie, Washington, DC, 2006-10-07 Alot of local food shops as well as big name brand(outback steak house) Just acouple of miles south in KeheiThe Aston Maui Lu was a very nice hotel. This was the 2 nd time staying there. We loved it the ocean front loft room was the best great veiw the sound of the ocean and sitting on the deck watching the waves was great. I think they need a little work on the out side of the buildings like a fresh coat of paint but what can you expect when your on the ocean front. I loved my stay at the Maui lu when i go back to Maui i will be a guest there again and i would recommand it to all my freinds. Score 4 out of 5 Great hotel if you don't want to swim in a pool. Anonymous, 2006-09-17 there's a shopping mall and quite a few dining facilities. My overall experience at Maui Lu was excellent. I only have a few minor complent to say about the hotel. There's no dining facility, but the restruants are ony about five minutes away. My second complent is the pool. there was so much bugs and the pool has a lot of safety descriptencies. it's very slippery and the paint is peeling off. the pool needs to be cleaned more often. Score 4 out of 5 Will be demolished soon! Anonymous, Hilo, HI, 2006-07-22 Stella Blues was the BEST place to eat while we were there! Only +/- 1 mile from hotel, they had the BEST food AND service, it was the only place we went to for seconds, and if we had more time before our flight we would have gone back for a thirds!Basically, if you plan on just sleeping and showering then it was worth the money, but if you want some quiet R&R, go somewhere else. Also they are going to be tearing the place down soon. Score 3 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-07-07 Beach across the street. |
