All the parks are within walking distance. You may have to drive if you want to find a fast food place.Someone may be hesitant to stay at the Thunderbird Inn from the looks of the outside but once inside the rooms are quite nice. Our room had a big comfortable king size bed. There was also a coffee maker and a refridgerator, which were very convienant. The bathroom tile may need to be redone, but that could have just been our room. The shower itself had one of those curved shower rods for more space which was very nice. The location isnt exactly in the middle of the historic district but it a very short walk to be in the middle of everything. I would definately recommend this place for someone to stay who is not wanting to have to pay the high prices of some of the other hotels. Score 3 out of 5 near historic district Anonymous, 2006-10-31 the mexican restaurant near the hotel is very good and reasonable.the thunderbird inn is a vintage 1950's motel decor with updated accommodations. The rooms were clean and had two double beds. The telephone and television were updated and even worked. The bathroom was functional and provided adequate space with the vanity area outside the bathroom. The hotel staff are cordial and friendly and go out of their way to help. the hotel location is within easy walking distance of the savannah historic district and downtown. it is a simple 10 minute walk and there is even a good mexican restaurant within one block. Score 5 out of 5 Very clean retro look to rooms Jennifer, Orlando, FL, 2006-05-21 Just walk towards the river to get to all the attractions.My husband and I have been to Savannah many times, but we had a wedding to attend in the historical area . I had remembered seeing this hotel which sits on the edge of where downtown goes from being historical to questionable. The staff were friendly and we had no problems walking from Bay street to the hotel. I would stay there again and I do reccomend it for anyone on a budget. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Thunderbird Inn James, 2006-04-24 All of the good restaurants in the historic district are just a 5 to 10 minute walk away.The Thunderbird Inn-Savannah is a totally renovated,Trendy place to stay within a short walking distance of everything in the historic district of Savannah. All of the furniture appeared to be new and in good shape and the property was very well maintained. The Bathroom was a little small but typical of a rehab. property. The only complaint I have is the bathroom floor was dirty upon check in and did not appear to have been mopped prior to our arrival but otherwise everything was in great shape. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend to others and plan to stay there again on my next visit to savannah. |
