Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Quick and friendly check-in Teresa, Pasco, WA Don't walk alone after dark AT ALL! It's not safe even if the locals say it is. However, I really enjoyed the dining and the nightlife!!Columbus,Georgia HO-JO was comfortable. The maid service was great and the room was always very tidy and neat. However, the floor in the bathroom did need to be swept better and mopped. The carpets in the entire place needed vacumed. The TV remote did not work and neither did the buttons on the TV to change channels. No matter what I did, the channels changed by 2 channels at a time, when I could get it to change. One night I could get my room key to open my door. I had to go back to front desk 3 times before they sent someone to help. They just kept reprogramming my key but it wouldn't work. And my room was on the far side of the Hotel from the front desk. Also, the fruit at breakfast was sour each morning. These are all small details & I'm a pretty easy person to please, so overall I would probably stay there again. Also, the clerk at the desk said she thought it was a pretty safe area to walk to the store one night. It was 7:30-8:00pm and I asked her is she was sure..should I call a taxi? But she said the convenient store was only a couple blocks away and it would be safe. Well, it was over 6 blocks away and I had quite a scare from a man in a black car/windows blackened out, who kept following me and pulling over and yelling things at me. For the record I am 42 and was dressed in dress slacks, turtle neck, long coat. Did not look like someone he could have picked up! The clerk should not have advised me to walk after dark. I hope they don't recommend walking to other women! So, I guess there are a few things that could use some work. Score 5 out of 5 home away from home robert, 2006-10-07 all that you'll need is within a short drivethis hotel was our home base for a few days while my wife and I traveled across country to visit and see our son graduate from basic at ft benning GA. the army only allowed limited time to take him so having a nice comfortable clean room waiting for us each time we returned (three day stay) was just what we needed. Not being from columbus ga I relied on the front desk heavyly to answer all my questions on where to eat, shop, and sights of the local town. Our only regret was not having more time to visit this part of the country. Howard Johnsons will be considered among the first hotels we ad to our traveling plans from now on! Score 5 out of 5 Helpful Staff David, Venice, 2006-04-14 Ruth Ann's is next door--great little greasy spoon place that has breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, KFC is about a block's walk.I'd never been to Ft Benning before, and was only in the US for 1 day to see a friend's graduation. My baggage was not on my plane, I had no idea how to get to the base, and my sleep schedule was off to much to fully enjoy the free breakfast schedule. Your staff: accepted my bags on my behalf, notified me in enough time to prepare my uniform and look professional for the comissioning ceremony--gave me detailed direction to get not just on post, but to the exact building I needed to find--kept the breakfast bar open an extra 15 minutes for me after I rushed downstairs to grab something to eat. Overall, I'm very satisfied and if I'm ever in the area again, Howard Johnson will definately get my business. Score 5 out of 5 the staff is wonderful Darlene, Melbourne, FL, 2006-04-08 directly behind the motel is the historical section of Columbus, GA with a river walk and historical homesites and buildingsit was just as i remembered - the breakfast cook is soooo friendly. every one was just great that i had any contact with at the Howard Johnsons Score 2 out of 5 Nice Hotel Anonymous, Atlanta, GA, 2005-12-02 Have a wonderful little restaurant across the street and are very close to the main law enforcement buildingThe room was very large and the staff was friendly. But i requested a non-smoking room and recieved a smokers room that smelled of smoke.
