Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Clean room, comfortable bed. Hector, Augusta, GA, 2006-10-02 The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also clean. The two problems I found in my room: a wall lamp with the switch inside the lamp base unreachable it had been pushed through the hole in the lamp base; the lamp was on so I had to unscrew the lightbulb to put it off. The couch next to my bed had the seat cover broken in several areas showing the sponge filler material. Both problems were reported to the front desk and they diligently put the request in a clipboard to maintenance. I believe the people who take care of the rooms should have reported those problems and have those problems fixed before customers use that particular room. I, also, could not find my room number from driving around the parking. The room was inside the building and not visible from outside although, there are rooms that their doors are facing the parking. Despite those shortcomings, the fact that the room was very clean and the hotel staff was very warm and friendly were positives experiences that make me consider that hotel for my next stay, the bed was very comfortable not too soft nor too firm and I was able to spend a very quiet and restful night. The Cazuela Mexican Restaurant is next to the hotel and the food is excellent. The hotel is a short drive from The University of Georgia and downtown Athens with its many restaurants and amenities. Score 4 out of 5 Older Hotel Anonymous, 2006-06-13 Lotso f shopping within a few miles west on the same roadHotel was older and worn. Late night actvitity was a bit discomforting. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom aged. The tap water was terrible to the taste, and best avoided! The bath water was somewhat discolored, probably from rusty pipes. The service was good, but the complimentary breakfast was awful, although most hotels are the same. It's a fun place. The Howard Johnson Express Inn in Athens met my expectations overall. It's close to downtown, the room was clean, check-in was quick, and the staff seemed friendly. On my last night there, however, there was a strange smell in the bathroom - like cigarette smoke. I'm not really sure where that came from. Aside from that though, I have no complaints. If you just need a reasonably-priced place to sleep for the night, this hotel will do the trick. Score 5 out of 5 VERY GOOD LOCATION Anonymous, 2006-02-26 THE MALL WAS A FIVE MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE HOTEL.THE LOCATION OF THE HOWARD JOHNSON WAS REALLY GOOD. IF WE WENT TO OUR RIGHT WE WERE DOWNTOWN ATHENS AND IF WE WENT TO OUR LEFT WE WERE AT THE MALL. THAT REALLY WAS A PLUS. |
