Score 1 out of 5 marginal Anonymous, 2006-10-07 Far from attractions.did not find shopping or entertainment in area.Staff very friendly, location difficult to locate at night. Room in need of rehab comfort marginal. Loose dogs on property. Dining room and food very good.located on shore ,nice pool. Located far from tourist attractions. Score 2 out of 5 Caribe Playa Beach Resort, Patillas, PR Anonymous, 2006-09-04 The hotel is a small building at the beach's edge. Don't forget sand shoes as the 'beach' is full of rocks and broken glass. The rooms are prison cells with a rusty metal front door and hard, uncomfortable beds. The hotel is in a depressed neighborhood, and stray dogs have the run of the property. Make sure to find local restaurants, because the hotel's dinner charges in one night for a family of four will be more than you paid to stay for a weekend. Pay the extra money and stay at an actual resort becuase you get what you pay for here. Half a star out of five stars. Score 3 out of 5 Beautiful Location but... Anonymous, New York, NY, 2006-07-04 The resort if you can call it that is set in a very pretty little cove literally on the water. I throughly enjoyed the constant sound of the waves. Unfortunately a few things bothered me - a bunch of stray does around the place, the beach was rocky and not sandy as I would have liked it to be. But the worst part of all was when we initially checked-in we were put in a dilapitated room where the kithcen counter was broken and the fridge was rusted. It was very dirty. After complaining we were moved the next day to a better room. Cannot believe that they expected us to be happy with the first room. The staff are very friendly but if not careful the management could take you for a ride. Score 4 out of 5 Relaxing atmosphere Anonymous, 2006-04-16 Recommend picking up some items at a grocery store so that you can have simple breakfasts and lunches on your own. We had a small cooler that we took along with us on our rides as well. Then, we went out for dinner every night. We really saved a lot on our meals by utilizing the room refrigerator. We wouldn't consider this a deluxe hotel by any means. However, we found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating and the rooms to be adequately clean. The rooms were quite basic...very plain with simple, older furnishings. Closet was small and there weren't many dresser drawers, but we managed to unpack and hang all of our things. We had a small kitchette area that comes unstocked, but you can get utensils, plates, etc. from the front office. We enjoyed having the refrigerator to stock fruit, yogurt, cheese, soft drinks, etc. The windows were covered with plastic, so you couldn't open them to get a breeze. However, there was an air conditioner that worked fine. We loved having the beach right outside the door. The beach was rocky, but with water shoes , it was fine. We frequented the pool, too. Days were pretty relaxed. Meals at the Seaview Terrace restaurant were good. There is only a selection of two entrees for dinner and you have to make reservations, but we didn't find this to be a big issue. It was quite pleasant sitting in the open air dining room in the evenings. The biggest drawback for us was that the resort sits very close to the highway and the traffic noise was bothersome some nights. This resort is definitely away from the mainstream tourist area and you need a rental car to be able to get out and see some of the sights and other towns. You also need to have a simple knowledge/grasp of Spanish to be able to read roadsigns, shop, or go to other restaurants as most of the residents are not or are only minimally bilingual in this section of the country. Score 5 out of 5 A beautiful view Whitney, 2006-03-10 The Caribe Playa Resort had a beautiful view. Waking up to the ocean and beach every morning was wonderful. The resort had a very tropical feel. However the town does not have much to do around it so it is best to either have a car or plan to stay on the resort. Score 5 out of 5 Very Peaceful and Relaxing Roger, Burlington, VT, 2006-02-08 About 10 miles away, there is a beautiful lighthouse on a point out in the ocean. It's called Tuna Point in Maunabo, P.R.. There is a gorgeous wide sand beach adjacent to the lighthouse. Very worthwhile! The Caribe Playa Beach Resort was a beautiful oceanfront location. It was a bit far from stores and other restaurants. I would recommend that people who go there rent a car to get around. We rented one for 2 days and did some sight seeing. It was very rewarding and gave a chance to eat out. The dinner menu is quite limited with only 2 choices. The food was good, however. The servers were very pleasant. We found it a very restful vacation. |
