During your London vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Ask! Pizza
Ask! Pizza follows closely in the footsteps of the ever-successful Pizza Express chain. Colorful pictures cover the stylish white walls and the dark marble tables are brightened up by a single flower in a small vase. It is clear that Ask! Pizza is trying to shake off the usual pizzeria-style look and take pizzas up market. The pizzas are pretty adventurous: in addition to the usual ham/cheese/mushroom numbers, you get goat's cheese with red onion and other unusual combinations. The result is actually very good although the base is a little thick - it hasn't made its mind up if it's a deep or thin crust. The usual Valpolicellas and Chiantis are on the wine-list and are reasonably priced. The eatery has branches nationwide.
Leon
Visit Leon if you are looking for nothing but appetizing fast food and efficient service. Organic ingredients are thrown generously in all preparations that add new flavors to the delights on offer. Leon also offers delivery and take-away facilities for those who want to relish their food far from the madding Farringdon Street! And if you plan to savor ‘Leon food' regularly, just set up an account at the place and save yourself the trouble of paying everyday.
Eagle (The)
The original gastro-pub, The Eagle remains one of London's most popular dining and drinking venues, and is always packed to bursting. Stake your spot on a beat-up sofa, or grab a seat on an old wooden chair or stool. You'll need to be there the moment it opens to guarantee a table, but it's well worth it. The food is fabulous, imaginative Mediterranean cooking, lots of grilled vegetables and beautifully cooked combinations. The best part is that the kitchen is in full view inside the pub itself so you can pick up a few cooking tips. Drink-wise, you could try the house brew, Eagle lager, but Guinness is the first choice for a lot of diners. Don't miss the wine - the list is short but interesting.
