As the hotel is a listed building, all renovation programmes have to take the original style into consideration, (this leads to small lifts and some long corridors). Altogether the hotel has maintained charm and style in a perfect location. (01/06 LC) It is a well maintained traditional building, dating from 1890. It is a 6 storey pale blue and white building, very impressive to look at. The hotel is located in the very heart of Copenhagen, near to the famous Tivoli Gardens, close to the central station and the shopping area. One could not be more central.
Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Good average hotel Anonymous, San Francisco, CA, 2006-09-19 Close to TivoliThe hotel was OK...........the prize was huge for the size of the room...........we were not able to open all our suitcases, no space. It took a long time to get help with lights that did not work. Score 5 out of 5 Comfortable and good value for money Sharon, Portland, OR, 2006-09-01 Tivoli Garden is located very close to this hotel and is a must for first-timers, but don't go with high expectations if you're looking for a beautiful garden. Tivoli has seen its better day, and is primarily a noisy amusement park. The plantings are interspersed with the amusements and aren't particularly well-tended. A good place for kids. The reasonably-priced Grand Hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from Copenhagen's Town Hall Square and Tivoli Garden. Our room (#104) was a spacious double with a good-sized bath (big fluffy towels). The beds were comfortable, and there were two cushy easy chairs and two desks. Large closets were located in an entrance hall which separated the bath from the bedroom, adding to the feeling of spaciousness. Upon arrival in our room we were a bit taken aback to find five out of six light bulbs burned out, but a very polite young staffer responded to our call immediately, changed all bulbs and apologized profusely. The hotel has been redecorated recently, and exterior work is currently in progress. The full breakfasts (included) were excellent, and the Italian restaurant on the premises was so good that we ate there two nights. Our waiter was a charmer, giving full attention to our table. Score 4 out of 5 Great Location Brian, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-08-02 many restaurants in walking distance. Entertainment and shopping also close by. Churches and museums also close by. Recommend renting bikes for a couple of days. Very friendly bike paths and rules. The Grand had a great location. Very near the train station, Tivoli Gardens and center city. It had remodeling being done while I was there which took away from the visit. Their breakfast was fantastic. It was nice to have a free computer in the lobby to check email. It was nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. Overall, a very nice stay. Score 3 out of 5 Great location Michael, 2006-04-26 restaurants, shopping, enterteinment and transportation (Main Train Station), tare all walking distiance.Great Location, one block from copenahagen Train station. Within walking distance to the train station and all the tourist sights. The staff was very helpful in giving directions and all spoke English. The breakfast provided had a great variety of selections and they were all good. I would highly recomment this hotel. |
