Great location, a bit small

Bonaire has many excellent restaurants. Our favorites: -Donna & Georgio's for Italian & amazing jazz -Zeezicht for everything, casual, great location for people-watching -Lion's Den for great food & best service we've had in 3 visits to Bonaire (This one you have to drive to, though.)

The Divi Flamingo has a great location, within walking distance of Kralendijk. The property is very interesting, colorful and well-maintained with a variety of amenities: 2 pools, beach, 2 restaurants, spa, dive shop, etc. The buffet breakfast was very nice, as well as live music most nights for happy-hour. A drawback was that the studio accommodation was a bit tight for 4 persons, and the bathroom was tight for even 1 person! It had just enough room for the shower and toilet with really no room to turn around (the vanity sink was located in the main room area). Also, as avid snorkelers, we like that you can do terrific snorkeling right at the Divi beach. However, we ended up with a rash of bites/stings and heard from some locals that they were due to some type of microscopic underwater wasp that was only known to frequent the water in the area of the Divi. Not sure how true that story is, but the bites went away in about a week without major damage. All in all, the location of the Divi still makes it a winner for us - next time we will get more than one unit or we'll leave our kids home!

We love the way the decks are right over the water so you can hear the waves and watch the fish swim by. It's a nice 10 minutes walk to town right along the sea.

There were many delightful restaurants within a short walk to town. The Argentine Steak House was wonderful. Overall Bonaire is a great place for a relaxing, non-crowded vacation. I will visit again.

I was very pleased overall with the Divi Flamingo Resort and Casino. The room was recently renovated, clean, bright and comfortable. My room was right on the water with a great view. My only dissatisfaction arose at check out when I was handed a bill for $56.00 for a safe key and lock that I never received. There is also a $6.50 a day energy surcharge billed at the end of one's stay. Although not a major problem, the bed linen wasn't changed during my six days at the resort.

The dining on Bonaire can be on the expensive side, but these are some good places to eat at reasonable prices. #1 for a lite breakfast dont miss "The Last Bite Bakery" the best!!!, and you can visit Santa Claus at his summer place the "Pizza & Grill", also try "City Cafe", "Donna & Georgios", and "Pinchos de Brazil".

The Divi Resort was verry nice, we had a larger room than I would have expected from most hotels, and for the most part well kept. The hotel staff was somewhat less than I expected, as it seemed to be an imposition to ask them for anything. From the receptionist to the wait staff, to the bartenders, they acted as though anything you needed was a major chore. On the other hand, the staff at the dive shop was the best!!, frendly and ready to help, and they made every effort to see that we had a good time on our dive's. The dive shop was well stocked with anything a diver might need, and the rental equiptment was very well maintained. As for the island of Bonaire, it's a must dive for any diver looking for some realy beutiful healthy reef.

The walk to town is only 10 minuntes. There are also many restaurants on the way.

I had a room right next to the sea which was very nice. I had a problem with my air conditioning not working the second day. The hotel was very helpful in helping me move immediately to a comparable room. I liked the ceiling fan which allowed me not to use the air conditioner at night. The room was spacious and clean. I had a refrigerator which was nice for keeping cool drinks available. This is an older hotel but I think it has been updated nicely. The location is good for walking to town.
