Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 family friendly Anonymous, 2006-11-24 The Coco beach bar at the orient bay has good breakfast and you can walk dwon to it from this hotelThe Orient Bay hotel 2 bedroom villa was quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helped fill in a request for a queen bed in one of the rooms even though the standard was a twin bed in both bedrooms. The staff was courteous and helpful. The place is very quiet and lends itself to a realxing vacation. The property is well maintained. The pool is clean and shallow enough for me to feel safe with my 6 year old son. It is a bit small and not really useful for lap swimming. The beach access is good 6 minute walk downhill and it is to the farthest north of Orient bay. There a couple of good french restaurants nearby and the best ones are a short drive away at Grand Case. The night life in this area is practically zero. For Italian try Spiga. 2. Don't miss the sunset on the tiny Grand Case beaches. The Hotel was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Two of our six nights, there were ants (about 1,000) that came out at night and literally were crawling on us in our bed. The staff was very short, not interested in our dilemma and basically unaccommodating. After a major negative interaction with one of the staff, they did change our room. The next day a man stopped us on the beach and let us know that 4 rooms were robbed overnight, including the one we had just vacated. This is the worst travel experience I have ever had. The hotel is old and in need of a major re-do, but there is no excuse for an uncleanly environment. Score 5 out of 5 Very Tropical feeling hotel Mark, Louisville, KY, 2006-04-01 Great beachIf you are looking for your own tropical bungalow this is your place. Its not the big mega hotel nor is it a Mom and Pop small place. Our room was a two level Mezzanine Villa with 2 twin bed strapped together to make 1 queen bed. This may sound like and odd bed configuration but it was very comfortable. The room had a small kitchen with a full size European refrigerator. We had a front terrace with 4 chairs and table and a back patio with our own clothes line for wet beach towels and bathing suits. After a day at the beach we would drag in enough sand to fill a sand box and each day the cleaning crew came in and made the place look spotless. Note: The voltage is 230Vac and if you are from North America as I am you will need to go to your local electronic store for a converter kit if you are planning to bring something that will need power. This is no big deal and should cost no more than $10 to $20. A good source for this kit would be Radio Shack. The only down side to this hotel is the beach is about a half a mile walk and has trash along each side of the sandy trail down to the beach. Score 4 out of 5 Nice little hotel G. Peter, Washington, DC, 2005-07-21 Orient Bay hotel is a nice and quiet place. It is not exactly in the Orient Bay area but is not too far and you need a car anyway. The kitchen is bare-bones (you get two empty salt shakers and no ice-cube tray in the refrigerator) but breakfast on your own is still preferable to the 9 Euro deal per person in the hotel. The rooms are plain but adequate if you are(like I am) of European background and realize that things are different over there. |
