During your Tampa vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Lowry Park Zoo
The opportunity to watch 3,000-pound manatees, Komodo dragons, Persian leopards, and rare red pandas makes this a worthwhile, albeit not entirely necessary, excursion after the kids have seen the plains of Africa at Busch Gardens. With lots of greenery, bubbling brooks, and cascading waterfalls, this 24-acre zoo displays animals in settings similar to their natural habitats. Other major exhibits include the Florida wildlife display, Asian Domain, Primate World, Aquatic Center, free-flight aviary with a birds-of-prey show, hands-on Discovery Center, and endangered-species carousel ride. The Wallaroo Station has kids' rides, a small water park, a kangaroo walk-about, and a petting zoo. Lowry Park has one of Florida's three manatee hospital and rehabilitation centers. The Eco Tour is very popular, featuring a cruise on the Hillsborough River, where you'll see turtles, herons, and manatees. The cost is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $7 for children 3 to 11. The zoo is also a sanctuary for Florida panthers and red wolves.
Henry B. Plant Museum
Originally built in 1891 by railroad tycoon Henry B. Plant as the super-chichi 511-room Tampa Bay Hotel, this ornate building is worth a short trip across the river from downtown to the University of Tampa campus. Its 13 silver minarets and distinctive Moorish architecture, modeled after the Alhambra in Spain, make this National Historic Landmark a focal point of the Tampa skyline. Although the building is the highlight of a visit, don't skip its contents: art and furnishings from Europe and Asia, plus exhibits that explain the history of the original railroad resort, Florida's early tourist industry, and the hotel's role as a staging point for Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War.

The room door was blocked by bed. The neighborhood did not seem safe, and I didn't see security around the cars or on site. When someone gets back late to their room security is needed.

It was very enjoyable dining at the Tiki Bar, or Parrot Bar. The food was very good and they had two for one drinks during happy hour.
The Best Western All Suites was very comfortable and roomy. It had good wireless signal so the business amenities I would rate highly. I had a large bathroom and a separate vanity area. I would recommend this hotel.

Busch Gardens in minutes away. There were many eaterys to chose from and a mall within minutes.
The Best Western all suites hotel was very accomodating to my needs. The staff was great and so was the location. Although the rooms presented as clean it felt very humid and had a wierd smell lingering. The size of the rooms were outstanding. The price was great for the huges rooms offered.
Unsafe, especially for families

This hotel is near Busch Gardens
This hotel seems attractive at first glance with its pretty pool and hot tub. The attraction ends there, however. This supposedly family friendly place had a malfunctioning fire alarm in our room. It was removed. It was never replaced over the next two days. The staff seemed surprised that anyone would worry about such a fire hazard. The suite was filthy, complete with ants and other bugs. The fllors had not been vaccuumed or washed prior to our arrival. The rear patio door also was malfunctioning and jumping the track. When we checked into the room, in fact, it was left open but covered with a floor to ceiling curtain. If we had not checked it and closed it, any burglar might have entered our room. This hotel is unsafe, particularly for the families it supposedly caters to. Unfortunately, the staff, when alerted, has a completely unconcerned attitude.
