Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 very consumer oriented michael, Tampa, FL There are many small shops in the downtown area that are fun to look through including clothing and gift shops with reasonable prices.The Ramada Inn was a very comfortable and clean hotel. They took the time to come around and personally ask if there was anything we needed to be more comfortable including more towels, coffee etc. Clerks at the front desk were attentive and polite. The hotel is also very close to downtown St Augustine which makes it easy to get to town when it is only a fifteen minute walk. It was very nice having the Dennys close by for breakfast also. The upstairs room was great with a bit of a view. Score 3 out of 5 St.Augustine Anonymous, 2006-11-15 To the local trolley that tours the cityThe Ramada Historic Downtown was comfortable, we could not access the local channels on cable for tourist information. The room was on the 4th floor overlooking the pool & BROKEN spa. The room was adequate, though it had seen better days. The towels needed to be larger. On site dining was good, with friendly staff, making us feel welcome. As they say Location, location, location. It was great, easy access to all the tourist traps. Our bartender was very helpful.The beds were very comfortable and the staff was friendly. Enjoyed the easy access of walking distance and would return. Very old Score 1 out of 5 Waste of Money Josefina, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-08-20 Early in the AM - it is nice to cross the street, walk around the church grounds & catch the sunrise. For people who like antiques, there did appear to be many small antique shops.The clerks at the desk weren't welcoming. We felt as if we were interrupting their day instead of being the reason for their jobs. We are paying guests after all. -The room had a lingering moldy smell to it. -The shower was dirty & I went to CVS to buy a Lysol cleaner. -The A/C unit was very loud & kept us up part of the night. By the way, there is a gap between the unit and the opening in the wall that allows bugs & water into the room. Probably the reason for the moldy smell. -The desk in the room is too big. It is at the entrance by the bed. One has to sit on the bed to use the desk. Take it out, it serves no purpose. I will say that is sufficient parking as opposed to some other hotels in the area. The pool did appear to be clean. The maintenance people that i saw did appear to be friendly and hard-working. It is in an old castle which was a winter home to the Warden family. The haunted ghost train is a must! After the haunted trip around the city you go inside the castle with a guide who tells of the hauntings in the castle. Well worth the money!The Ramada Historic downtown was very nice for the money! The location was ok. The walk to town was a little long, but the trolley does come pick you up for $20.00 a person which is a little pricey. The hotel itself was very clean and the pool and jacuzzi was nice. Overall this hotel is a great value-but if you are looking for a great location- Score 1 out of 5 Do not stay here Kenneth, 2006-05-16 There is a Denneys a short walk from the hotel and many upscale eateries near by.The toilet did not flush properly. The water went off without notice from 10AM to 5PM two days out of three. The staff was not trained on the computer at chech in which caused a delay in checking in. The staff would not compensate us for lack of water in the room. There was only one DSL line and only one computer hooked up to it and you were allowed only 15 minutes on the computer. The pool bar was only open on weekends. The jacuzzi did not work. And finally, the mirror in the room above the dressing table was held inplace by duct tape. The one thing we liked about this Ramada Inn St. Augustine was the location. It was close to the old town. Sit at the counter if you can, great service and fast at the counter.We enkjoyed our stay. Everything was nice and clean and well done. It looks like it has been remodeled fairly recently, and done well! |
