Upon arriving they said none of the rooms were ready and check in time was 2:00. The next morning I went downstair for breakfast at 8:00am. Both regular coffee pots were empty and the decalf was cold. When I told the individual at the desk they just said check with the kitchen. I waiting about five to seven minutes before anyone from the kitchen came out. I told the lady and she said. "yea I know..I'm making more". Why would you wait until the coffee urns were empty before starting coffee during prime breakfast time! The toaster was working. Two individuals tried to toast bagels and burned bagel filled the room. One of the customers pulled the plug so it would catch on fire. They ran out of syrup around 8:15 so the kitchen help removed the tray of waffle batter even though there was 3 other people in line waiting for waffles. When the man in line said where are you going with the waffle batter the kitchen help replied "we don't have any more syrup". The man said "well maybe some people don't want syrup" and the lady just ignored him and continued to the kitchen. It was the worse customer service I have experienced in a long time. Score 2 out of 5 disappoointment Karen, 2006-08-07 The air conditioning went out within a large section of the hotel and the staff waas aware of the problem but it took a phone call from me at 10p.m. asking why it was seemingly getting warmer n my room each hour for the staff to say, "Oh, the air-conditioning is out in your section..Would you like another room? A little initative to inform guests earlier of the existing problem..assistance moving luggage etc. was certainly a reasonable but unfulfilled expectation! The hotel is in need of upgrading...elevator old needs refinishing...sections of floors old...disappointing experience..have stayed in surrounding hotels same time of year and essentially same value and this one was the worse! Score 5 out of 5 Home away from home Cynthia, Charlotte, NC, 2006-05-22 We really liked the selection of places to eat.We have a choice from hamburgers to steak. One of the places had anything you would want in a salad bar plus the most delicious desserts. The La Quinta was the most comfortable place I have ever stayed in.The room was not only large but had a desk with internet access for my computor. The view from the window was beautiful.I think that the pool area was so clean and beautiful. We could have found it very easy to just vacation right there and had family over to see us.The long counter in the bathroom was spacious enough to hold every thing from hot rollers to toothpaste. We were greeted with smiles and hellos from the staff. One morning as were leaving our room the cleaning lady was singing as she worked. She not only spoke to us but told us if there was anything that we needed while she was there to let her know.I liked the fact that she was friendly and seemed so happy. It definately added to our pleasant visit. The fact that we walked just down the street to a nice restaurant with a small shopping area across from it adds to our list.We just won't stay any where else. Score 5 out of 5 Very Friendly Lisa, Tampa, FL, 2006-04-26 We visited Wannado City in the Sawgrass Mills Mall about 10 minutes from this hotel. Wannado City is nothing to write home about but if you like to shop then visit this mall--I think it's Florida's biggest!I was very happy with this hotel. I expected a clean, decent room but was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice-looking and spacious room with a big bathroom that had double-doors! Everything was very clean, not musty at all like in some other hotels. The pool/hot tub area was very nice. We had to call the front desk about 11pm for more pillows and they were very helpful and nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Plantation area. I-595 just a mile away, making easy acces to many tourist attractions. Decent continental breakfast The room was a little cramped but more spacious. Good bang for the buck. Mall, grocery stores, restaurants etc. Also the hotel is close to major highways if you wanted to to the ocean, Miami etc.We have stayed at this particular La Quinta Inn several times since our son, his wife and daughter live in Pembroke Pines, Fl. We usually alternate with his wife's parents as to who will stay at my son's home and who will take a hotel room since they have limited sleeping accomadations at their home. So the La Quinta Inn is our second home away from home. We enjoy our stay there, the staff is very friendly, and since we are frequent stayers we even know some of them by their first names, as they know us. If we require anything they are on it right away, like extra soap, towels, kleenex, coffee packets etc. This last visit on the 24th of December 2005 to the 26th of December, even though that particular La Quinta suffered damage from a major hurricane, the hotel was kept as orderly as humanly possible, out side and in. The staffs attitudes remained up beat, while trying to repair uper level rooms, roof etc. One would not know that the chain put a major effort to remain functional thru this. I would recommend the La Quinta Inn chain to my friends and family. Hopefully, the rest of this hotel chain is like the one in Plantation, Fl. |
