Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Close to Seaworld Tami The hotel is only a few minutes from Seaworld. It is also close to Universal Studios and a short drive to Disney World. The Hawthorn Suites is conveniently located to Seaworld. It offers alot of space for the money and has a breakfast buffet which is included. This particular hotel, however, is older and the rooms need to be updated. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent choice Denise International Drive is one big cicle...it does get confusing. When you leave the hotel, go toward the ramp for I-4, but stay on International Drive. There is everything on this street: gift shops, restaurants, etc. Lake Buena Vista exit has Target (go right) and Walmart (go left) and lots of everything else.I was very happy with our accommodations. Upon arrival, which was several hours earlier than check-in, we were allowed to have our room. The front desk personnel were all very pleasant and willing to provide anything we needed: we had driven all night and were exhausted. The room(s) were larger than I expected. We had the one bedroom studio: the living room had the sofa sleeper, and the bedroom had two full-size beds. The small kitchen was just what we needed: the refrigerator was much larger than most in hotels. Dishes, silverware, and some pots/pans were available. The stove, dishwasher, microwave and toaster helped with those late-night, early-morning snacks. The sink/dressing area was separate from the bath area, which was very convenient for several to get dressed every morning. The bathroom did seem a bit old, but was clean. The bedroom had a huge closet and a second television. Breakfast was included: every morning, we had choices such as scrambled eggs, bagels, fruit, ham, bacon, sausage, juice, coffee, cereals, grits; some mornings, there was French toast and pancakes....a great start before Disney World. The pool was large and heated; the hot tub was a little small. Access to I-4 was less than one-quarter mile. Once on I-4, we were less than 11 minutes to Universal Studios and all of the Disney theme parks. Seaworld was one block away. Score 2 out of 5 friendly Anonymous, 2006-10-22 bugs in the room. Score 2 out of 5 Very Dirty Anonymous, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-10-15 The carpets are filthy. I wasn't sure that the bedding was clean. The smell was musty. Score 5 out of 5 Great place in Orlando Anonymous, 2006-09-04 This property is about 5 minutes from Sea World. There are also shuttles to Sea World, Universal and Disney from this location if you do not have a car available. My husband and I stayed at the Hawthorne Suites near Sea World in early September. We were surprised by the spaciousness of our suite. We were delighted to find that there were even some dishes, glasses, utensils, and two pans, as well as dishclothes and paper towels provided. There was a microwave and a two burner range and small refrigerator as well as a tiny dishwasher. We did find however the day we left that the dishwasher was not working properly. The bed gave a good night's sleep. There is a full size mirrored doored closet as well to keep everything put away in. The vanity area is separate from the tub/commode area, a real help with several people getting ready in the morning. Housekeeping was on top of things and the room was made up in a timely fashion each day. We would recommend this property and would return to it. It would also be appropriate a family as there was a pull out couch also in the little living area. The breakfast provided was okay except the eggs were awful and the pancakes or french toast and bacon or sausage were cold. There was fresh fruit, juice, toast, cereal and coffee and milk, however, so you could eat something and the breakfast was free. Score 4 out of 5 FAMILY FRIENDLY Anonymous, West Palm Beach, FL, 2006-08-28 The Hawthorne Suites at Sea World is a convenient to everything, dining, shopping, The parks at Universal. Great safe place to stay. Score 4 out of 5 NICE FAMILY FRIENDLY HOTEL Lynn, 2006-07-16 THE HAWTHORN SUITES AT SEAWORLD WAS A NICE, FAMILY ORIENTED HOTEL AND I ENJOYED MY STAY THERE A LOT. THE ROOM WAS PARTICULARLY NICE WITH THE DINING AREA WITH A REFRIGERATOR AND MICROWAVE. THEY ALSO HAD A WETBAR AND SINK WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF DISHES AND GLASSES. THIS CAME IN HANDY WITH US HAVING SMALL CHILDREN WITH US. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NOT A RESTARAUNT, THERE WERE ORDER OUT MENUS AND A SERVICE FOR HAVING FOOD DELIVERED WHICH WE USED AND WAS VERY GOOD. THE BREAKFAST PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL WAS BETTER THAN MOST. THERE WAS AN EMPLOYEE WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL, GETTING US MILK FOR A SMALL CHILD LATE AT NIGHT. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO STAY HERE AGAIN AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE VISITING THE AREA, ESPECIALLY VISITING SEAWORLD ORLANDO. Score 4 out of 5 Needs some work... Anne, Miami, FL, 2006-06-30 Right off International Drive and just around the corner from Sea World. This is a decent place for the money, but they need to do some maintenance and make some upgrades. The hot tub in the pool area has no working jets, the elevators were run down and dirty and the air conditioning units in the suites are antequated. The one in the bedroom part of the suite actually smelled like it was going to catch fire and stopped working on our second night there. I turned it off and relied on the one in the "living room" portion of the suite for the remainder of our stay because I did not want to go through the hassle of switching rooms. Staff was very friendly and accomodating, but they do need to spend some money fixing the place up some. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others if they do that. Score 5 out of 5 Great location Kurt, West Palm Beach, FL, 2006-05-21 SEAWORLD and DESCOVERY COVEHawthorn was wonderful. Great pool with a great location just off of I drive. Minutes from Seaworld and Descovery Cove. Score 5 out of 5 Good location. Charles, Boston, MA, 2006-04-26 Sea World and Discovery Cove.If you are going to Sea World or Discovery Cove this is a good place to stay (about 5 minutes away from both). Hotel was nice. Breakfast buffet was good (not a continental) scambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast etc. were available. The room had two TV's one in the living room/kitchenette and one in the bedroom. We ate in the room for a couple of meals, it had service for four and a dishwasher which was a nice extra. Children enjoyed the pool. Overall, this was a decent value for the money. |
