Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Great Beach Trip Jeffrey, Albuquerque, NM It is hard to find problems with anything with the ocean being less than fifty yards away. There was some problems with sound traveling through the walls, but the beach across the street was gorgeous and awe inspiring. I could stare at the ocean for days. Score 5 out of 5 Well worth it Felix, Miami, FL Great dinner a block away, and a liquior store on the coner. The Habana libre resort was a great place to stay the faculty was very helpful and nice. The hotel was worth the money. The hotel facility is well maintained. The rooms were huge and everthing was separate the kitchen the living room, and the bedroom. The night life is less than a five minute drive. It was a pleasure staying here. I reccomend it to everyone and I would stay there again. Score 1 out of 5 Don't ruin your vacation by staying here! Anonymous, Swansea, 2007-02-21 The Havana Libre was not any kind of a resort it was more like a nightmare. There was not even a phone book or a restaurant guide or a functional restaurant in the place. The size of the room made me feel as though I was in NYC instead of on the beach in Florida. Turned out to be one room with one regular bed and a beat up old red couch which could be opened up right up against the bed with no room to walk or move. The smell of mildew and popourri was overwhelming and there was even popourri in the bed. I complained about the room and I was told that it was the weekend and that there were no other rooms avaliable by the very unfriendly desk clerk. It was also a sixteen dollar charge daily for valet parking at the hotel (nowhere else to park) and the valet hit my car and then the hotel then said they were not responsible but would remove a nights charge from my bill and that they would now move my room to the suite I should have had which was two rooms, one with a bed and one with a better couch. All in all, I booked four days and left after three days had gone by. Don't ruin your vacation by staying here. This is a 1/4 star fleabag hotel at best. Score 1 out of 5 Do NOT Waste Your Time Deborah, Baltimore, MD, 2007-02-19 Carrabba's and Hola Lola offered sumptuous meals. the portions were generous and the service impeccable. Just a few short blocks from the hotel; an easy walk. Both establishments were hospitable and priced reasonably. The room had stained rugs, burned out light bulbs, and VERY thin walls. The hotel staff was very lax in repsonding to questions and generally exhibited an I don't care attitude. We watched the front desk clerk ignore incoming calls while he was on extended personal calls. This happened 3 consecutive nights. The wait staff in the restaurant was not able to effectively communicate in English, creating needless delays and incorrect meals to be served. The bartender was rarely at the bar, despite a number of guests congregating there, looking for service. He had to consistently be hunted down for service. The curtains would not close completely for privacy, as they were stapled open, allowing bright sunlight to pour in....even if you wanted to relax and sleep a bit...not to mention the hotel across the street whose guests could peer in at night, due to the lack of privacy. Score 4 out of 5 poor communication gary, Baltimore, MD, 2007-02-15 the location was great. the room was ok the bathroom was tiny. the staff never gave us any info, tags for do not disturb etc. there was no voucher in our packet for the continental breakfast. there was a lock on the thermostat and the room was extremely warm. The connecting door was so ill fitted that we could hear the occupants sniffle, cough, talk and etc. Everytime anyone ran the toilet or shower it sounded like they were in our room. Score 4 out of 5 Family Friendly Marilyn, Edmonton, AB, 2007-02-12 A couple of little shops to pick up a few groceries, liquor was short walk from hotel. The hotel was very comfortable, overall we were quite satisfied. Only area we found lacking was in the room upkeep. Had problems using the phone for long distance and was never fixed. When requesting additional things for the room, they either didn't understand or forgot. Score 2 out of 5 STAFF FRIENDLY BUT SPEAK LITTLE ENGLISH Anonymous, 2007-02-02 APPROX. $10 IN TAXI TO LINCOLN RD. WE OPTED FOR THE NIGHTCLUB SHUFFLE BUT DIDN'T GET IT (ALTHOUGH WE PAID FOR IT)APPARENTLY BECAUSE OF ROAD WORKS. GO ON THE DUCK TOUR,V.GOOD VALUE AND A MUST IF YOU'RE ONLY THERE A SHORT TIME.FIRST IMPRESSION OF THE SUITE WAS VERY GOOD. THE DECOR WAS GOOD, THERE WERE THE USUAL AMENITIES IE IRONING BOARD, IRON, HAIRDRYER,COFFEE PERCOLATOR, FRIDGE, BATHROOM GOODIES ETC. THE BED WAS BOTH LARGE AND COMFORTABLE, AND THE ROOM WAS CLEAN.LOTS OF POT POURRI. KITCHEN ROLL IN A FANCY FAN SHAPE. ENOUGH!! THE IRON DIDN'T WORK AND WAS BURNT BLACK, NO IRONING BOARD COVER, PERCOLATOR DIDN'T WORK AND NO MILK EVEN IF IT HAD WORKED, BATHROOM TINY AND BATH DIFFICULT TO GET INTO (YOU COULDN'T TURN THE TAP OFF OR ON UNLESS YOU WERE ACTUALLY IN THE BATH). WE COULDN'T GET ANY HOT WATER, ALTHOUGH I THINK THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN BECAUSE WE WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH THE TAP. BATHROOM GOODIES WERE 3 BTLS OF BODY LOTION, NO SHAMPOO OR SHOWER GEL. 4 CLOTHES HANGERS! WE WERE ONLY THERE FOR 2 NIGHTS (AND IT WAS THE SUPERBOWL) SO DIDN'T BOTHER COMPLAINING AS STAFF COULDN'T SPEAK VERY MUCH ENGLISH. I liked the kitchen with the small refrigarator. The building was very quit and the hotel staff was friendly. Score 1 out of 5 unsafe wanda, 2006-10-26 Upon our arrival there were several people lottering around the building outside. The screens in the windows were bent/damage from the view of Collins St. The valet person could not speak any English at all, and we didnot speak spanish. The hotel clerk could not give clear or percise directions to the hotel. And the entire atmosphere appeared unsafe. There were people hanging around outside in front, and on the side of the hotel. The entire setting was clearly unsafe, and we could not be certain that our vehicle would be parked inside of a secure area. Therefore we thought it would be in our best interest to leave. I told the clerk that we did not feel comfortable in the area, and we were going to another hotel. |
