The Astor is a South Beach jewel from its inception. The hotel was designed to be a truly unique, service-oriented, chic intimate property for discerning corporate and leisure travelers. No expense was spared on the refurbishment of its 40 suites and spacious guest rooms, utilizing the finest imported fabrics and furniture. Originally constructed in 1936, the hotel has maintained the original exterior facade and unique architectural features of the property.Just two short blocks from the sparkling beaches and nightlife along bustling Ocean Drive, the hotel is within walking distance from the area's trendy cafes and nightclubs and in the center of the best designer shopping district. The hotel is a haven for celebrities, corporate and entertainment travelers, fashion photographers and the art world.
Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 great SOBE location Anonymous, New York, NY The 11th St. Diner was great for breakfast and a quick snack at any hourAstor is a nice small art deco hotel with a very competent and helpful staff.....we found our room to be somewhat small and inconvenient and the lack of amenities could be a problem for some Score 5 out of 5 Great location Anonymous Excellent location, room had a great feel and ambiance. Walking distance to most everything. Very easy to hail a cab and short cab ride to places like Joe's Crab House. Valet parking was the only slip up as it was Art Deco weekend and took us an hour to get our car. Mini bar was well stocked but not fully stocked. Check to make sure your not charged for something you didn't use. Everything I expected in an old fashioned art deco style hotel in SouthBeach. Score 5 out of 5 Very well run--great staff Anonymous, Chicago, IL, 2007-02-23 Be sure to visit the Wolfsonian just across the street. One of the best places to stay in South Beach! The room was very large, and nicely remodeled. Even though we were on the first floor, we weren't bothered by noise outside, or from traffic in the hotel. The main thing that dissattisfied us was the hotel's valet service. They use an outside company to take your car where ever they can find a spot to park the car. The first time we picked up the car, it took 35 minutes to be delivered. The second time, 1 hour and 30 minutes. Needless to say, we were refunded our money, and parked our car in a meter lot across the street from the hotel. Despite poor valet, the rest of the hotel was lovely, and everyone who worked there was absolutely gracious, and friendly! Score 5 out of 5 Great Hotel!!! Brenda, New York, NY, 2006-09-17 Very close to the beach, bars and stores!!!!I love this hotel!!! Great room & service. Will definately stay here again on my next visit to Miami!!! Sister property (The Strand Hotel) has a rooftop pool that was available for me to enjoy!!! Score 5 out of 5 Spaceous, calming, friendly Anonymous, 2006-07-25 there is a very cheap garage nearby: at the police station. 6 bucks/dayNice staff, very guest orineted, not intruding into my personal space, not patronisisng, it is all about being invisible but always there when I need them. Excellent hotel. It is pity that the restaurant of the hotel is rather expensive compare to other restaurants around and that the bar was not open all the time. Otherwise a great expreinece. The room was modern and spacious above our epectations. Score 4 out of 5 Nice room Thomas, Chicago, IL, 2006-06-02 Nice rooms; so so public areasThe room was very sleek and comfortable Score 5 out of 5 Improving location Steven, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-05-22 Number one is the location to the Bank! It was nice not having to try and locate one. The shopping also is great along Washington, it is only one block off of the main drag shopping and you can find some awesome pricing dealsI was traveling with a friend, who also got a room at the Astor. For us, the location was ideal. It was basically in the middle of everything we wanted to do. They are cleaning up the Washington Ave. so it is improving and feeling safer. One nice thing about the Astor is it is located almost next to a bank so did not have to travel to get cash! I would recommend this Hotel, and the staff was very friendly and wanting to be sure we had a great rest and vacation. Rooms are very clean and kept that way. Thr property is slowly changing to a type of Time share and will need to have some renovations, it is showing some of its age...All in all, it was just fine and I would recommend it to future travlers! Score 5 out of 5 NIcely remodeled Hotel dan, Las Vegas, NV, 2006-02-27 Put on your walking shoes, it's a journey to LIncoln Road shopping area, but a short walk to the Beach, and Dining. The Hotel Astor is a nicely appointed Hotel. I liked the "lounge" atmosphere. The Hotel Employees were attentive, and courteous. The Restraunt staff was a little laxed. There was a rain issue in one of the rooms while I was there, as their ceiling colapsed. My room was a beautiful room. Clean, modern, and contemporary. I thought it was a little pricey, considering it was 3 blocks from the beach. |
