Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 fun with friends alison, Westchester County, NY 41st street was about a 25 minute walk. We did not come with a car, so we pretty much walked or taxied everywhere we went. We got a pretty solid workout, and there were many restaurants on that block!I went on vacation with 3 friends and stayed at seacoast suites. We realized quite early in the trip that this hotel will charge you for anything they possibly can. for example, we arrived at the hotel way before check-in. even though our room was empty and available, we still would have paid $50 to check in early. this wasn't shocking, most hotels will charge for an early check in, so we opted to leave our luggage with the valet people and do some food shopping. they actually charged us $3 per piece of luggage, I thought that was ridiculous! when we finally checked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room, it was really quite nice. later that night, disaster struck. I will spare everyone with details, but lets just say there were some plumbing issues. the night staff gave it much attention and tried help as best a possible, but understandably, it was out of there control. we were forced to switch rooms first thing the next morning. Not one member of the day staff apologized, nor offered to assist us in moving all our belongings. other from then on, everything went smoothly. This hotel suited our purpose: 4 college girls looking to go on a vacation for one week in sunny Miami. Score 2 out of 5 Not what it seems Stefanie, Hickory, NC, 2006-04-09 Had great food at the poolside grill. This was the only place to get food. The Seacoast Suites had many hidden issues. We had a 6am flight into Florida and arrived before 10am. The Hotel never mentioned to me on any of my prior 3 phone calls that there was an early check in fee of $50. Of course, no one there had the customer service kindness to waive the fee based on their oversight. We never received wash cloths with our linens. we had to improvise with soap and an oversized hand towel to be shared by 2 guests. Not great. There was construction being completed at the hotel. The hotel has the potential to be great if just would accomodate more customer friendly atmosphere and strive to provide better service. Had great food at the poolside grill. Found out it is not run by the hotel staff! Could be the reason. Score 1 out of 5 Non-chalant Service DEIDRE, New York, NY, 2006-04-03 I was extremely dissatisfied with the hotel and especially the service. My first room had roaches and one of the bed was not made. No manager on duty the entire stay so I was not helped with my dissatisfaction. The resturant was closed. Ther was no pool bar and the beach path was over grown with weed and bushes. The tennis court was in total disrepair. Score 2 out of 5 Review Rhonda, 2006-03-16 Don't check in during evening hours. Be ready to tip the valet.Trip started with the front desk ignoring me while I stood there, waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged. Then they made a copy of my driver's license and credit card (not such a good idea). The lobby is much nice than the rest of the hotel. The valets are very slow to respond to get your car, and some of them don't understand english real well. We waited 3 times over 1/2 hour to get our car. Pool area is under construction and smelled like tar. 17 floor building and one elevator was broke down for 2 days. Had to wait over 10 minutes for the elevator one day(finally used stairs). The restaurant was never open when it said it would be. During lunch hours on nice days you could buy lunch near the pool, but the tar smell sort of killed your appetite to eat there. FYI: It costs $5 each to rent beach chairs and umbrellas. They DO NOT have beach towels (bring your own to be safe). The rooms are very loud you can hear everyone coming and going. I was awakened several nights due to pounding in other rooms. If you get a street side room rest assured it is noisy as thousands of cars pass by each hour. It does have a nice view of the canal, but it is loud and the balcony is not so private. At 2 am a boat came by blasting music for over 45 minutes. The oceanside rooms are a bit quieter but during spring break the other guests yell at each other from there decks. Housekeeping only cleans every other day (so hopefully you don't need them on the odd day. The hotel is located close to South Beach which is nice, if you stay in South Beach I assure you the noise would be unbelievable. You can't walk to South Beach unless you want to walk over a couple of miles. Don't be alarmed when you see the hallways to the rooms. The rooms are much better than the the hallways. I would not stay here is you want quiet or romantic. It is o.k. for kids because nobody seems to care how much noise you make. We traveled as a couple and would not make it a couple's event next time. The hotel basically offers nothing but a room. Don't expect a lot of bells and whistles from this property. |
