We did not realize this to half way through the week. This hotel was in a great location but I would not recommend it. The rooms were old and sort of dirty. The walls were paper thin. I heard someone sneeze and I thought they were in the room with me. Our shower was so weak we had to use the ice bucket to get water from the tub to rinse shampoo out of our hair. Fortunately the bartender made great mojito's and we all have a sense of humor. The drunker we got the funnier it was that our hotel was so raunchy. Score 5 out of 5 In the Heart of town Anonymous, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-11-05 SHopping about 10 blocks, nightlife and eating are around the cornerThis place is in a great location right the Delano hotel great place for cocktails. The was nice nice size pool right on the beach with Bar out side. Friendly people Over all a good place to stay Score 5 out of 5 Great stay for the price! Arlene, Miami, FL, 2006-09-24 The price was great for a beachfront hotel property, the room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was also a good size. Would stay here again on another visit to Miami Beach. Plenty of closet space as well almost as big as the bathroom. Not far from Lincoln Road within walking distance. Score 4 out of 5 Cool place to stay for the money Matthew, Atlanta, GA, 2006-09-04 The heart of Ocean Drive is only about a 10-15 minute leisurely walk, with decent lunch-hour specials on food and drinks.I got to the hotel after typical check-in hours and had no problem getting checked in and they accomodated my roommate who was coming in a few hours after me. The Staff was courteous and friendly (front desk sent for hand-towels while I was at the desk so that I wouldn't have to go back up to my room to get some). The hotel room has a kind of older, home-ish feel to it. The bathroom is kind of small for me being over 6 feet but as I guy I didn't really care. The room was good overall, it had a frig in it which was a plus but the beds were squeaky and neither comfortable or uncomfortable (hell it's Miami I only got 5 hours of sleep a night anyway...hahahahaha). Overall for the price, location and what the room was used for (a couple hours of sleep and showering/changing clothes to go out) it was a good place to stay. Back of the hotel pool section opens directly to the beach and there are hammocks in the pool area to relax on after a little sunbathing. I SPENT MOST OF MY STAY IN FLORIDA SIGHT SEEING. I THINK THAT IF MOST OF THE STAFF LEARN MORE ENGLISH IT MAY MAKE THE NEXT VACTIONER MORE HAPPIER THAN I WAS. DON'T GET ME WRONG IT SUITED IT'S PURPOSE MANY PEOPLE DON'T TAKE VACTIONS JUST TO SIT AROUND IN A HOTEL ROOM, AND BASED ON THE SIZE AND THE NONE CONTROLING OF YOUR OWN AIR TEMPERATURE THAT'S A GOOD THING. Score 3 out of 5 Great value for the money, but not exactly the cleanest place to stay at... Anonymous, New York, NY, 2006-07-04 Shops on Lincoln Road are nearby, about 5 minutes walk. Shops on Ocean Drive are also nearby, about 10-15 minutes walk. The upside: Marseilles hotel has superb location in South Beach. It's close to many shops on Lincoln Road, and it has a private entrance to the beach. I liked the fact that our room had ocean view. The hotel also has good pool, fitness center, and hammock. The downside: the bathroom is not very clean. There were some hair left in the bathtub, and the tub was not exactly clean either. Then there was no stoppage for the bath, so you cannot take a bath there. You can only use the bath for showering. The carpet in the room was also on the dirty side. Also, there was no refrigerator in the room. The noise is pretty bad. We could hear our neighbors having a party past 2 am. Score 4 out of 5 great location and perfect for the money you pay Anonymous, 2006-07-04 Excellent restaurants on Collins for less money than if u eat on Ocean Dr.The room was a little on the small side for 4 people with large suitcases but the room was clean and the staff was nice. It is in perfect location of restaurants and to Ocean Dr. The hotel is on the beach and provides breakfast dinning. I reccomend this hotel to all. Score 3 out of 5 Location only Arthur, Fort Myers, FL, 2006-07-02 Shopping and dining are very close to this hotel. The hotel is on the beach.Upon arrival at front desk, found out that parking was $18 per day and that I would have to take the car to the garage (2 blks) and walk back. No smiles or friendliness from the clerk. The room was postage stamp size, extremely small, but clean and comfortable. There is an outside snack place, but not at 95 degrees. For the price, the only redeeming factor is the location. Score 2 out of 5 Paper thin walls Anonymous, 2006-07-01 Wear comfortable shoes for a long walk or take a cab. This particular hotel was nice in the fact that it was right on the beach and had a nice pool with bar and music. The staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. The only real complaint is that the walls are paper thin. I am up for partying as much as the next person but when I close my door, I would prefer not to hear every word out in the hallway. It was if the people were in my room. I was awakened several times in the night because of noise (not excessively loud people, but EVERY word, whether wispered or not was audible). The location was several blocks from the heart of things on Ocean Drive also. |
