The Kent is like a playground for adults. Its 54 rooms were created by designer Barbara Hulanicki, who designed the Marlin, Compass Point, Pink Sands, and founded Biba. It's the perfect choice for guests who value stylistic fusion, affordability, creativity, comfort and convenience. Its lobby is alive with bright colors, geometric furniture, toys and a whimsical projection clock. Its unique private garden features orange retro '50s loungers shaded by a banyan tree. It's like an acid jungle. But the rooms are designed to be functional and restful, with large desks and lavender walls. The Kent is the perfect choice for a weekend adventure or a more extended stay.
Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Perfect location! Anonymous There are tons of clubs and bars within a few short blocks!! No waiting for taxis, no finding parking, just go!They were very laid back. Open to early check-ins or late check-outs. Very friendly staff. Score 3 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2007-03-01 No review provided by user Score 1 out of 5 unfriendly and unclean Richard, 2007-02-25 The cafes were a short distance. Also the beach and nite life. The Kents staff was not friendly. The hotel was shabby in appearance. The room was dusty and the shower had mildew. The room was spartan in its decor. Looked more like a college dorm. It was dark and dreary. Lighting was poor. Bathroom sink was too small for my cosmetics and toiletries. Floors were dirty. It was one of the worst hotels we ever stayed in. Because the floors were not carpeted we could hear every step from the above floors. Score 2 out of 5 My review of Kent Hotel Anonymous, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-12-17 Kent is underkept, not quite clean, and in general worn down. That said, the staff is still friendly and the location is fine. Score 3 out of 5 good for traveling on a budget Anonymous, Boston, MA, 2006-11-18 Ocean Drive has many nice restaurants and bars/nightclubs. Check out Clevelander's outdoor pool party! Our room was small. It's not fancy either - don't expect too much, really (there's no bathtub). The everything-in-purple concept makes it funky though. The flat screen TV was out-of-proportionally large in such a small room. Didn't get to use the DVD player, but the CD player wasn't working. Wireless internet in room (and *free*) is a HUGE plus (I was in Miami for a convention). Location is prime, and it's very, very close to the beach. There're plenty of nice restaurants nearby so dining should not be a concern at all. Front desk staff were mostly helpful. Score 4 out of 5 great location Kevin, Greenville, SC, 2006-11-09 Kent Hotel was a great place to stay - clean, homey, cool, trendy rooms with everything you need, free internet service, and a free breakfast - minimal - like muffins, juice, and coffee - but FREE. It is one block from the beach and Versace's home. Walking distance to great shops, Lincoln Avenue, and Ocean Blvd - so many great restaurants nearby. The staff were approachable but not overly friendly. Score 5 out of 5 Great location! Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-05-05 One restaurant after another on Ocean Blvd with lots of 2-1 offers! The Kent Hotel was an excellent find! It was my first time visiting the South Beach area and being one block from the beach and the action on Ocean Blvd and only a short 7 blocks from my friends condo was perfect! The parking lot next door was a bit expensive but again a perfect location. The room itself was comfortable with a DVD player, CD player and a Flat Screen TV. I missed having a coffee maker in the room but then again I missed the complimentory breakfast in the morning also. My loss I'm sure. The safe was a plus! My friends who live in the area thought I had found a great deal and would refer the Kent to their future guests!!! (their condo is too small.) I have nothing to compare the Kent with but they DO! So having said that...I would come again! Score 5 out of 5 Great hotel with convenient location Anonymous, Baltimore, MD, 2005-08-21 Jerry's Deli on Collins Ave is great for dining. The Kent Hotel was very stylish and clean. Location was within walking distance to lots of shopping, dining, and nightlife. High recommended!!! Score 5 out of 5 If you like lavendar... Kate, Orlando, FL, 2005-07-11 I stayed here because the rooms are all lavendar. Even the robes are lavendar. The rooms are small but clean and the staff is very friendly. Parking can be a problem if you don't pay $20 for 24-hour valet service. You will have to call ahead 30 minutes to get your car. If you don't like closed in spaces, avoid the elevator as it is as big as a closet. I loved the rooms and would stay again for the serenity of the colors.
