Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Review Anonymous, Miami, FL The Carlton Hotel was very uncomfortable, the room was actually smaller then expected(the bathroom is small). Overall, the location is the best thing there is. Score 1 out of 5 Boutique hotel for aspirational chic budget crowd Anonymous Everything is within walking distanceBoutique hotel with the basics. Good hotel for night crawlers, not for families or business travelers. Small bar & pool in the lobby area for socializing. Unfortunately, my experience was not pleasant as we were put in a room with a non working shower & bath which we did not discover until late in the day and no other rooms were available. Claimed they did not know about the problem and could not fix it until next day. We wound up showering at a friends hotel, then they provided another room to shower the next morning. Score 2 out of 5 Old and Nasty Charles, Denver, CO Lincoln Street Mall is very close with lots of shopping and dining. After we checked in, we got into an elevator that smelled like mold. That should have given us a clue to what our room would be like. The room was very small and packed with two beds. There was barely enough room to put our one suitcase on the floor. The carpet felt damp, and the cleanliness of the room was questionable. When I went into the bathroom, there was trash in the trashcan from the last person and the sink, toilet and shower looked either dirty or stained. It is a very old building, but not kept up very well. The window were not functioning, and the tiles were cracked. Not my favorite place to stay for the money. Score 4 out of 5 Great location Anonymous This location was walking distance from everything you could want in south beach. The rooms were decent, perfect for not spending too much time in them Score 4 out of 5 Great location in core of southbeach Runasonko, Mexico City The Carlton Hotel was very comfortable, check-in area is modern and the hotel is complete remodelated. Great hotel if you want walt to the beach or walk to lincon road Score 4 out of 5 Good Location john, Detroit, MI This hotel is easily with walking distance to Lincoln Road mall, which is the place to go for dining, shopping, and people watching, but there are a dozen or so places within a block to eat. When I was choosing a Hotel I was looking for 3 things. 1)Location to South Beach - This hotel was very conveniently located, basically 1 block walk to the beach, with Starbuck's conveniently located right at the beach's entrance (loved that), and several nice places to eat within the block. Plan to spend about $30-40 for breakfast, and about $80 -$100 for dinner. 2)The room was not very large, but clean. Oh yeah, no headboards, ugh! 3)Price -I think I got a good deal; however, still a little $high$ for what I'm used to getting for a similar hotel outside of South Beach area. Overall - nice hotel, nice pool, free happy hour drinks. Dont set your expecations too high, and you'll be delighted. Score 4 out of 5 Very friendly Anonymous, 2007-03-09 Go to the clubs, they are unrealThe Carlton was a great hotel for Spring Break. Score 4 out of 5 Great Location Anonymous, 2007-03-01 The Carlton is in the middle of everything. You are just a very short walk from Lincoln, espanola, and the beach. Perfect as long as you don't plan on spending much time in the room. Some of the staff was very rude but most were ok. The location is perfect for the rates just don't drink at the bar or your minibar- expensive but comparable to a lot of the places in South Beach. I would visit again should the prices remain reasonable. Score 1 out of 5 Carlton Hotel, Miami: Not ready for prime time Anonymous, Boston, MA, 2007-02-26 Travelers should know that there is a fixed rate for cab fare to and from the airport and that meters should remain off during these trips. Additionally, most restaurants automatically add a gratuity to bills -- some as high as 18%.The Carlton Hotel is located in the heart of South Beach in Miami, with restaurants, beautiful beaches and shopping nearby. That is the only positive thing I can say about my recent experience. The accomodations were far less than satisfactory. Upon arrival we were ushered to a room that reeked of cigarette smoke. The room we were moved to had only two small recessed ceiling fixtures for lighting, and one contained a burnt out bulb. What made it worse was that these fixtures were located behind the drapery. Further, no reading lamp was provided. The reaction to my request for a lamp was at best idiotic. Only one bar of soap was provided. Did they expect us to move the soap from sink to shower and back again? The bathroom was poorly lit and contained the only mirror in the room. There was no hook to hold a hand towel and no place to stow make up, toothpaste or other suppplies. No bureau was provided, so we were forced to keep folded items in our suitcases throughout our five day stay. While the hotel boasts that it provides wireless internet access, rooms did not contain desks or chairs, so guests are forced to sit on their beds or work in the lobby which blasts techy music 24/7. One day no beach towels were available. Then the wall mounted air conditioner sin our room began leaking into the closet. By far, the worst incident occured while I was at a meeting. My teenage daughter and her friend were alone in the room when a male member of the hotel staff entered allegedly to count hangers. This was both rediculous and grossly inappropriate. Score 2 out of 5 forget this place Joe, 2007-02-06 IF YOUR EVER IN FLORIDA YOU MUST SEE SOUTH BEACH ITS THE BEST PARTY PLACE ON EARTHthe smallest hotel room very tiny and old it smells old and price was a rip off it should be a 20 .00 hotel stay away from this old one |
