Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Horrible Hotel Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA I just saw a bunch of stores close by, can't remember the exact onesWow, this hotel was horrible. First off, i'm not one of those negative people who are overly picky, and i normally never right reviews, but this experience was so bad that i had to right a review and warn other vacationers. From the moment i walked through the front doors my experience was bad. I'm a new mother, carrying a baby in his infant carseat and the hotel staff standing right next to the door don't even help me with the door, or my bags. Then i try to get a bell boy to help carry the larger bags from the taxi. WHo knew that could be so difficult at a hotel. I had to wait about 15 minutes on the curb for the bell boy to come help me with my bags, in the mean time, the six hotel staff members standing around in the lobby making jokes with one another, couldn't help me or my husband (we would have carried it ourselves if we didn't have so many bags and a baby). But the real dissapointment was the tiny tiny room. The room is absolutely tiny, and feels like a motel room. they make an attempt to decorate it with contemporary furniture (bed, painting and an orchid on a small table), and it was clean. But I would have rather stayed at like a ramada inn than this place. The bed took up most of the room, the carpet looks old and dingy, there's a wierd smell in the hallway. And the window faced a back street. it was way too small and old, with horrible service (the bell boy who finally helped us was nice) I'm a reasonable person, but this place had such bad service and such a tiny, dingy room that we swallowed the nonrefundable fee for the first night, and checked out that night, and moved over to the Sheraton Bel Harbor (which was beautiful). I've never done that before, but we invested all this money to fly to miami for a vacation, i wasn't going to let this mistake ruin our first day. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous Best restaurant aroundScore 3 out of 5 Good location, old look Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2007-02-19 If you decide to stay at this location you've picked the right spot for food and shopping. Some of the best resturants are right out side your door, even the hotel has a fabulous resturant that opens after 6pm. This location is in the core of everything!!Whenever you book a trip in the art deco district you MUST understand that alot of the hotels have been restored to it's original condition, so things will tend to look older than one would expect. I have traveled to South Beach several times so I am accustomed to the atomsphere. I would not suggest this hotel to first timers, but once you've had the South Beach experience, next time this would be the place for you. Score 3 out of 5 My review of Avalon Hotel Steve, Chicago, IL, 2006-12-10 The rooms are simple and clean. You are paying for the location not the room. It likely compares with the other hotels on Ocean Blvd. Score 4 out of 5 Good location Anonymous, 2006-10-22 Great food at great prices! We stayed at the Majestic side of the hotel in a room with double beds and there was hardly any room to walk in between the beds and the TV stand. I'd say moving around in the bathroom was a bit more comfortable. The room was clean and the hotel is right in the middle of all the action in South Beach. The elevator while neat looking dropped a little when it got to the specified floor. It scared us so much we decided to take the stairs to the 3rd floor where our room was every time to avoid reliving the experience. We asked for extra towels and it took 3 phone calls to finally get them delivered the next day in the morning. When we asked why it took so long, they said they didn't have any clean towels...so much for room service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel was pretty good. Score 5 out of 5 GREAT LOCATION for all those who wish to enjoy the Art Decor of South Beach Jose, 2006-04-22 The hotel is really located in a walking distance for so much funThe hotel location and accomodations were excellent; however, the check in experience was a bit un-usual, the receptionist was not much of a friendly girl . I just hope, I will not come across the same receptionist. |
