It was much further then we expected it to be for where we were wanting to be. We spent most of our time in Old Town and we thought it was within walking distance but it was the last hotel going toward Tampa. We did like the fact their was a few pizza places right across the street and some shops right down the street. The staff was friendly. I have been able to get this same type of room in a much better location for a much better price. Also the TV only got like 3 channels and the parking was not convenient for where our room was. Score 5 out of 5 Review Valerie, Buffalo, NY, 2007-02-06 This hotel was near the exits for Interstate 4 and 3 miles away from the Disney exits. There are a variety of restaurants on 192.Score 5 out of 5 Great value for your buck, and close enough to Disney to enjoy it all. Debra, 2006-12-28 We had a great breakfast in the hotel, it was a buffet. Just across the parking lot was a Chinese/American Buffet which was great for dinner. The room size was more than required for my 4 year old and myself. The 2 double beds gave us plenty of space for sleep and his play. Being that we are from south florida, we did not bring our bathing suits in January. However that was a huge mistake due to the fact they had a covered heated pool which we did not know about. It was less than 10 minutes drive to Walt Disney World, and less than 5 minutes to all restaurants, shopping, etc..... We had a great experience at this hotel. Score 4 out of 5 OK for the price Anonymous, Gainesville, FL, 2006-08-08 Lots of fast food, some sit-down dining, and some smaller attractions (miniature golf) all along 192 between the hotel and Disney. Was disappointed to find an ashtray in what was supposed to be a nonsmoking room, but the carpet deodorizer powder they use masked any odor. The property is starting to show its age, but is pretty well maintained. Did not use the shuttle service to Disney due to the rigid schedule. Nice pool area and playground. Overall an OK place and good value. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous, Newark, NJ, 2006-08-04 The chinese restaurant nearby is excellent and at good prices. So was the buffet breakfast within the hotel.Score 2 out of 5 friendly Anonymous, 2006-07-16 make sure you have a cari expected it to be a better hotel but overall it was pretty nice. Score 2 out of 5 NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. ROGER, 2006-06-29 Our first night stay at the HOWARD JOHNSON hotel was a disaster. The room air conditioner leaked water into the room and the rug was water loged. We needed to get management to bring in an industrial size fan to try to dry the rug. We were not able to use the air conditioner that night. Management was able to find us another room the next day. So we had to move our belonging a second time. The hotel did comp us the 1st nights lodging. Score 2 out of 5 Rude Staff and Maintenence Problems Michael, 2006-06-04 Don't use the phone in the room! It seems that there is some internal problem determining which room has made calls, and you may be billed for other rooms calls. When I arrived in the room, I attempted to use the phone for some work on the Internet. The phone was broken, and we needed to call a maintenence technican to repair the phone. On our second to last day, while taking a shower, we ran out of water. There was no water for several hours in the afternoon. The water pressure in the room was terrible all weekend. When I checked out, I received a excessive bill for phone calls. The hotel had charged us for two long distance phone calls, which were allegedly made during the period in which the phone was broken. When I told the clerk that those calls were impossible, he became very argumentative and rude, referring to me as "buddy". Score 2 out of 5 Could have been better Anonymous, 2006-03-26 Disney World, there are plenty of tourist spots and plenty of places to eat.Mainly dissatisfied with our room. We arrived and the room smelled very strongly of burnt enssence.(Which I can't stand) I figured thats ok its just one night. So when we left we were charged another $2.83, which we were not notified of until we checked out. I don't know why it was not included in the price but oh well. It's only $2.83 right? It is close to Disney World. |
