During your Fort Lauderdale vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Bonnet House
This historic 35-acre plantation home and estate, accessible by guided tour only, will provide you with a fantastic glimpse of Old Florida. Built in 1921, the sprawling two-story waterfront home (surrounded by formal tropical gardens) is really the backdrop of a love story, which the very chatty volunteer guides will share with you if you ask. Some have actually lunched with the former resident of the house, the late Evelyn Bartlett, wife of world-acclaimed artist Frederic Clay Bartlett. The worthwhile 1 1/4-hour tour brings you quirky people, whimsical artwork, lush grounds, and interesting design. Inquire about the literary walks and science workshops, which are offered regularly on the grounds.
Stranahan House
In a town whose history is younger than many of its residents, visitors may want to take a minute to see Fort Lauderdale's very oldest standing structure and a prime example of classic "Florida Frontier" architecture. Built in 1901 by the "father of Fort Lauderdale," Frank Stranahan, this house once served as a trading post for Seminole trappers, who came here to sell pelts. It's been a post office, town hall, and general store and now serves as a worthwhile little museum of South Florida pioneer life, containing turn-of-the-last-century furnishings and historic photos of the area. It is also the site of occasional concerts and social functions; call for details.
Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale
A fantastic modern-art facility, the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale features permanent collections including those from William Glackens; the CoBrA Movement in Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam with over 200 paintings; 50 sculptures; 1,200 works on paper from 1948 to 1951, including the largest repository of Asger Jorn graphics outside the Silkeborg Kunstmuseum in Denmark; stunning Picasso ceramics; and contemporary works from over 90 Cuban artists in exile around the world. Traveling exhibits and continuing art classes make the museum a great place to spend a rainy day.

Nice Property

Anonymous

The Hyatt has a nice property. Pools and surrounding areas are very nice. Many of the rooms are 100's of yards from the lobby. They do not tell you when you check in where your room is and if you have a walking problem you are in trouble, unless you have a room in the tower($$$). However, after you realize how far you have to walk, a request will bring you a golf cart for transportation. Obviously this adds time to whatever you want to do. Restaurant facilities are very limited unsless you take a cab. Top of the hotel restaurant is not open. Other available eating places are either bar and grill or very fancy($$$). All food and beverage prices are outrageous, including breakfast in the lobby.

You can never go wrong at Hyatt

Phyliss, New York, NY

There were so many wonderful places to eat many walking distances from the hotel

If at all possible whenever I travel I try to stay at a Hyatt Hotel. I was in town for a funeral and they made it possible to check in early so we could change and go the funeral. It was a very pleasant experience under otherwise sad circumstances. Thank you Hyatt!

Great location

17 St. Causeway, intersection with Fed highway #1

The Hyatt at Pier Sixty Six was very comfortable, the room with king bed was very neat. The bathroom was clean and its looked everithing was new. I don't have any complaints except for the TV movies system that didn't work. For people like me that love boats, its spectacular with the dock right next to the rooms. The Pelican Bar has a beautiful site just next to our dream yachts.

Over Priced, but nice

Anonymous, Detroit, MI, 2007-02-22

The Hyatt Pier 66 has a nice layout and a resort feel. However, the rooms, while comfortable need to be updated at least in the Garden Area. The walls need paint. While a minor detail, it would have made a better impression. Staff was friendly, in-house dining was outrageously expensive and the service was fair to poor. Would not suggest eating at the hotel. Nice pool and attentive service there as well. Didn't like the hidden charges of $12.00/day for a resort charge, plus between $19.00 and $23.00 a day to park your car. That's an additional $31-$35 a day they're socking you.

It was nice, but had lights that didn't work, and a toilet that needed fixing. Although the view was better by far.

resort feel very inviting

Melissa, Charlotte, NC, 2006-12-11

the hotel is very close to the beach with breathtaking views of the harbor. cute shops to pick up those last minute souveniers.

Most of the staff was great . Making everyone feel like a rock star.Every thought and desire was met as if you were the only person on their list to please for the day. If I asked for more coffee at breakfast is was met with a "my pleasure". The only concern was that when we arrived the room wasn't as clean as I would've liked and there was a discrepency on how to get the maids to come clean the room. i assumed they did unless you put the privacy please sign on the door and we came back to an uncleaned room for the day. In all fairness they did say they would send them back that evening if we preferred but we were already in for the evening and didn't want to be cleaned around. The view from our room was beautiful, the valet were great the cabana staff were great,as were the front desk staff. Over all a good experience and I would stay there again.

Next to everything

Wilfredo, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2006-05-13

Take a short cab ride to the beach, and try some of the cafe's along the side road.

Just stayed one night. My room was not ready at time of check-in, so they checked to see what was available and did not hesitate to upgrade. I had a special request for a bottle of champagne to be in my room when I came back (it was a night of celebration) and they came through. Nice people, excellent location, very attentive. Definitely will stay again.
