Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Fantastic hosts Heather, Denver, CO There is a restaurant on the corner or the block with a lovely view of the ocean. Great seafood and a fun drink menu.Hotel staff was so friendly and made me feel at home. The room was comfortable and a nice change of pace with the themed decor. I prefer this hotel to any chain. While the building itself is dated, the charm more than made up for it and at no time did I have any problems with any of the facilities. I will definitely stay at Gigi's again when I'm in Ft Lauderdale. Score 1 out of 5 Rundown & Ramshackle Anonymous, Kansas City, MO, 2006-11-26 By taking a short walk to A1A, catching the tolley to Los Olos Blvd. - downtown, several good venues are there for great music. Mangos and OHara's both featured really excellent music.Gigi's Beach Resort was ideally located 1=block from the beach and access to the $1 trolley cars running along the main drag. However, the resort is very rundown, not clean, poorly furnished and generally in very bad shape. Staff seemed friendly enough, but there was no effort exerted to clean or maintain the facility. There were dirty, ugly throw pillows on the bed, the bedspread was tattered and old. The floors were dirty, a dirty cleaning rag was left lying on the thrift store dresser. There were light bulbs missing from the thrift store lamps. There were no glasses, no ice bucket in the room. There was no extra tissue in the bathroom, when the roll ran out, the number to call posted on the office door connected to a distant manager who told us to look in a cupboard near the office door - there was nothing in the cupboard. The continental breakfast (Bed & Breakfast billing), consisted of refrigerated, cold rolls one might find in a bakery thrift store. The plastic furniture on the patio was dirty and cheap. The landscaping was so overgrown in the patio area and all around the building it was scary and lizards were darting in and out of the concrete blocks. Debris from the palm trees dropped on our heads while having their pathetic breakfast. The coffee was undrinkable, and they did not use real dishes. When we asked the man who signed us into the hotel how to get around, he did not have a map, and he gave us terrible directions to get to the trolley - we found our way by trial and error. The best redeeming value was the short walk to the beach. The location was on a quiet side street, which was another good point. Surprisingly the bed was comfortable, although it was difficult to feel relaxed while being so concerned about the lack of cleanliness in the room. Others staying in the hotel at the same time whom we met at breakfast, indicated they were also appalled by the condition of the place. Lauderdale is booming with pricey high-rises near the beach. So a reasonably-priced, quaint little place is becoming increasingly hard to find. Gigi's has a very informal, friendly atmosphere. It's a short one-block walk to the beach, and they even have umbrellas and chairs you can borrow. The window unit in the room strains a little bit to keep it cool during the hottest part of the day, but that's a minor complaint. The only "amenity" is a nice little shaded patio (no fitness center or pool). This is a great value if you want to be near the beach but don't want to spend a lot on a fancy hotel. Score 4 out of 5 Friendly Staff Anonymous, Oakland, CA, 2006-07-11 Dining, Beautiful beaches, shopping, nightlife and entertainment all within minimal walking distance. The Gigi Resort was essentially a basic room and bathroom. The cooling system was a window insert cooler that works. Ceiling fan added to the comfort. WIFI could not be attained in the room and minimal at best in the garden entryway open to all clients. Missing in the room was the small amenities, cups, coffee, although the coffee pot was there and a refrigerator. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Continential breakfast is muffin, coffee, juice, yogurt.........beginning at 9 am, too late for those that get up earlier. No one on site after 5 or 6 pm and you have to call. Overall the place is fine for a place to sleep, clean with a friendly atmosphere. Only one block to the beach and that was great. |
