Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Spend a night only Anonymous Shoney's Restaurant - very good. The hotel check in staff was first rate. The housekeeping staff was very hard to communicate with since they spoke very little english. The bed was not comfortable to spend more than one night on. Yet the Shoney's restaurant right next door was very nice. Score 2 out of 5 Problems with the room Anonymous Ocean is only 2 blocks awayThe Best Western Fernandina Beach presented us a few problems: The card key to the room quit working, and we had to move to another room, very inconvenient, even though maintenence came quickly. However, they could not fix the lock. the second room was much nicer, and newer (the first room was pretty run down, and had not been renovated). There were no elevators, and at our age we needed one to get the luggage upstairs. The location was nice, but the price was a little high based on the overall age and condition of the facility. Score 4 out of 5 Friendly staff Anonymous, Miami, FL, 2006-12-31 Shoneys right next doorBest Western Amelia Island was your average hotel room. Staff was very pleasant. We had a problem with the smoke alarm, maintance came to the room within minutes. Very helpful. Very good location for the beach, only a block away. Score 2 out of 5 Neither comfortable nor clean Anonymous, 2006-12-29 The exterior of the hotel was good but the room was not clean. The carpet needed to be replaced or shampooed. The fixtures were dusty. The couch was uncomfortable. The mattress was terrible. We had planned to stay two nights and left after the first night. We did not stay in the area so did not investigate restaurants or shopping. I didn't know until we got there but we had a mini kitchen in our room which was helpful so we didn't have to eat out the whole trip. The only thing i was not impressed with in the room was that the carpet needed to be shampooed b/c by the evening you had black feet.I loved that they allowed dog to stay with us in the room. The location was excellent, .5mi from beach! The rooms were very clean & the pool was sparkling clean! I will say we did have a problem w/ the room key. I got locked out 4x!! The staff kept asking me to try the key again (after they activated it each time). I was in a hurry to a rehearsal dinner, finally after 4 times, someone physically went to my room & realized the battery was dead, they had to replace the entire locking system in our room! While they did address the problem promptly, I guess I expected more on the customer service side of things. I would still recommend Best Western again. It's right after the bridge on the right side of the road. The Best Western Inn at Amelia Island was very comfortable. It is in a good location, within walking distance of the public beach. There are also several restaurants nearby. If you like sports bars, they have a great one. |
